New here and just downloaded a sound to use in a flash animation.
your Faq suggested sourceforge audacity as a sound editor.
So I downloaded it. On install I got a pest alert saying that the installation contained a pest called something like zando.sudoku.
Explanation please if possible  :x
ok, calm down, we didn't make the program, so its not our fault!
Firstly - where did you download it from - was it from a site we (I say we meaning freesound) provided or did you search it. I have personally downloaded this program and there was no such report made on my computer.
Secondly - are you sure its a pest? I'm guessing it was your firewall that made such an alert, it could have just picked up a rogue file that Audacity uses and your firewall might have thought it suspicious!
You're in it now Streety...
Like my mom always says - "few good deeds go unpunished"
In Streety's defence - Audacity is a great program - especially if you need one for free. A legitimate copy has no nasty viruses or pests, and will not take over your computer like realplayer or microsoft.

now i'm confused...i need a defence lawyer now?
I believe the term is “defense” lawyer..
Sorry... I am the victim of a tragic condition which causes me to speak mispelled... (see I did it again... it should be misspelled) as a consequence, I also type that way.

Well i just clicked on the link in your "can you recommend a good audio editor" FAQ. The link took me straight to Audacity and i downloaded it from their Kent,UK mirror. The pest was picked up by my pest patrol monitor. I didn't check the details of the pest, just deleted it and this caused the installation to crash.
Its ok though I googled a good editor called wavepad which I used to create my sample, so problem solved. I have emailed audacity to see if they know what the hell happened.
Sorry about the angry faces.
haha, sorry to hear it was off the audacity site - but glad you found a solution..
Welcome to Freesound!
Streety was correct in the first place.
defence lawyer is right, it is english afterall not american no matter how much you try to break the english language
As for the software issue, if a firewall is doing that sort of detection it might be best getting rid of it, The job is for antivirus and anti spyware. Let the firewall do its job and the anti virus do theirs.
Wow...
Then I was right the first time I wrote "defence"
Meanwhile, I've competely forgotten what this thread was about... something about a virus in a download?
So it goes.
If it's an official binary downloaded from an official sourceforge mirror there probably isn't anything to worry about. I forget if audacity uses the nullsoft install system on windows, but many antivirus programs mistake nullsoft installers (NSIS) for trojans. We had the same problem with vegastrike... just reinstall audacity and ignore the "pest alert". Maybe read the report more closely too if it comes up.
