Just three suggestions.
1. Maybe, when one looks for a sample, say, searches for one, the page displays the rating of the sample. This way, one would know how his/hers samples are rated without having to go to the sample page. And, it would help people who are looking for samples.
2. How about this... when some person gets 20 or so individual sample ratings, they can earn an over-all user rating that depends on how those samples were rated. Rated in stars, x out of 10.
3. This is just a suggestion for any FreeSounder, well more of a question. Why doesn't anybody rate the samples? I've seen samples with +1,000 downloads, but not a single rating.
Somebody said that if nobody comments, then if it has a lot of downloads, its because people don't want to "degrade" the sample by putting it into context, and I understand that, but you could still rate the sample to show respect without saying anything. I rate every sample I use, or even ones I just like a lot. Come on people, don't be cheap.
Hello Flowers
I like your second suggestion! As for your third question... it is something that is difficult to manage. Bram recently put a reminder at the samples and since that time there are more ratings. But I'm afraid that there are many users that do not contribute much and are probably not willing to do more ratings.
BTW: I really like your remixes of the Number Station samples by danielc0307!
What are your criteria for ratings? Not to be too relative here, but I find it far easier to rate really terrible sounds than to rate really good ones. And like we were saying in another post, even badly conceived & recorded sounds can be interesting sometimes. I don't know, maybe my standards have gone completely out the window, but I can imagine uses for most of the sounds I hear, except the ones with the levels all over the place (mine). So do I give 5 stars to everybody?
Where can I hear the numbers station remixes? I like numbers stations.
I agree, most sounds here found are in one or the other interesting / useful / beautiful etc. But the lack of ratings doesn't reflect that.
Number stations? Danielc0307 uploaded a few of them at

And here's the 4 CD set for real fans http://www.irdial.com/conet.htm
The remixes (LGs and hello_flowers') are cool! The spooky made spookier. I've always wanted to do something visual with numbers stations. You guys wanna play with the voices?
And back on topic: Let me ask in a different way - by what criteria would you want your sounds to be rated?
When I mean rate, I mean rate how much you like it, if it's interesting to you. Even if you don't use it, rate it if you like it.
PS: I didn't know there were so many people here who liked number station samples
For me, technical quality is of lesser importance than the experience (very hard to describe this!) - so I don't mind if a sound is not perfect as long as it gives the right feeling - and I will rate accordingly.
But that doesn't mean that all users do that and I honestly don't know why there are many who don't rate.
off-topic: yes, I love to play with these voices!
