I'm not able to upload any files. I just get an I/O error description to the right of the upload statusbar.

I've tried from three different browsers; firefox, chrome and epiphany with no luck.

I'm on linux, on a wifi connection, all browsers are up-to-date.

Hi. I had the same problem and it disappeared after I cleaned the cache in my browser, it could be that you have the flash object cached from before the change from beta.freesound.org to www.freesound.org. Could you confirm you still have the error after cleaning the browser cache?

i'm not sure if its a related issue or if i missed the memo about this, but I'm unable to search for files currently.

"The search server could not be reached, please try again later"

I am having all of these issues...and worse, I can not hear any sound prior to uploading it.

I'll give my cache a cleaning and give it a go, and get back with the results. But both chrome and epiphany was freshly installed, prior to uploading, so I doubt that there's any change, but I cross my fingers

Uploading is a problem, lot of errors. send mail to support. Hope it will be okey soon.

Is there any chance of an ftp option? Or would it be the same?

OK so it seems the problem is happening with large files (thanks klankbeeld).
Our current limit is 1G. If you upload one or several files that combined make more than 1G, the upload should fail.

Ideally such large files should be compressed using a lossless format such as flac.

I will do from now. I think filmproducers will not be happy because the import my general-noise files directly into there films as backgrond. They have to uncompres it first. But thats there problem. I'll understand and will do it in the future.

Please Gerard, make it (flac for large files >200Mb??) a recommandation for freesound

Kyster you can flac with Audacity easely. But I think you will know already as a pro...

The file in question is 571 mb, so it's maybe considered large.

But what happens when a flac file exceeds 200 mb? I'll probably be the same then.

On a sidenote, flac isn't a problem at all, afterall i'm on opensource software all the way (well except for the wav codecs... and my nvidia drivers..... ok ok AND the adobe flash player..... )

Hi Kyster, just check that the file or combination of files do not exceed 1GB, we won't change this limit for now. If you have problems with single smaller files let us know!

I can not upload. In fact, there is nothing to click on. What happened? Now I have to download each sound to hear it and then download it again to save it if I want it. Am I missing something? When I go to a page for a particular sound, I see only one large white empty rectangular banner, where I am assuming the sound should be. So is this the new normal at freesound.org? I hope not. I really love your site.

Just to let you know, the issue apparently is still there- after having all but 1 file in a queue fail, I tried uploading files individually, and recieved the same "failed: i/o error" message after a few seconds of progress-bar. Everything well under 1 GB, cache was cleared; running Firefox 6.0.2 under Win 7, if that helps.

All other things aside, the newer upload procedure is a lot less intimidating than it used to be

While the configured value is 1GB, it seems it may be happening with smaller files, what sizes are failing for you? for all files you are uploading at the same time combined)

calm public stadium 01.wav 5.3mb
calm public stadium 02.wav 7.0 mb
calm public stadium 03.wav 22.8 mb
calm public stadium 04.wav 12.5 mb
calm public stadium 05.wav 21.5 mb
calm public stadium 06.wav 41.9 mb

01, 02, 05, 06 failed IOerror after few
minutes while 03, 04 were uploding well.
