Can't login any more from the Power Director Link within the program. Just stopped, when logging in says incorrect user or password. Not true! For the hell of it I reset the password and still coming up with the error. Suspecting that the website changed the link address since when clicking on the Register button it takes me to a dead end page but still showing "Freesound logo. Please resolve this issue.
Hi Judith, no its not you. I made sure by changing my password but I knew before hand it was the website and not the passcodes. I have my codes remembered by my browser so it was not at our end. I do hope they resolve this as well. I use Power Director extensively.
Cheers
I have noticed that the old links for both homepage and forum ended in index.php while the current ones are just www.freesound.org and www.freesound.org/forum
Maybe yours is the same problem.
Thanks Copy, so apparently there was a change. Will need to figure out a way to change the link in Power Director. I can't believe Free Sound changed it. They must have some contract with the software developer.
Good news on the cyberlink forum, they've been informed of the issue and they're working on it
That's awesome Copy. Thanks for taking the time to look into it.
Cheers
You're welcome, but all I did was getting curious and browsing the web, until I found the forum topic about it, credits go to the original poster and the user who reported the problem as seen here
Bram does that mean that Freesound cannot fix the link?
Cordially, Manny
Bram mentioned the API (Application Programming Interface), that means that Power Director doesn't act as a browser on the same pages we see manually, but calls dedicated functions to get specific results; with the new Freesound, the API has changed.
Be sure that whoever rewrites an API tries to keep the most of it compatible with previous versions, but if the new underlying structure is too different, you're forced to break compatibility, and to induce those who wrote programs using the old API to adapt them to the new one.
That's what the Power Director staff has to do, not just a link change but an internal software rewriting.
Freesound 1 had no API. Powerdirector's system was based on a dirty 'hack' we added to freesound for searching and downloading sounds.
With Freesound 2 we have an API which alows you to query lots of things in freesound and do it nicely. Freesound2 doesn't share a single line of code with freesound1, and there is nothing we can do to "fix" cyberlink directors integration.
I've also tried talking with cyberlink more than once because I get the feeling that they did not do everything possible to get the attibution right. There should be AUTOMATIC credits in any movie that uses freesound sounds, just like the license *requires* there to be.
If anyone here has a contact at cyberlink, please tell them to contact us ASAP at support AT freesound DOT org.

Thanks guys for the info. It was an important asset to me when making my home projects to easily access soundbytes from your great web-site. Let see if Cyberlink responds and makes the changes needed to continue with your service. To always have to open a separate browser is too time consuming. With the integrated interface life was grand.
thanks again.
