Hello all,
I have occasionally run into a problem when trying to play the samples online via flash. Its a problem on my end being on a slow computer. I have resorted to selecting downloads by reading descriptions and looking at the waveform. The problem is that my attribution list is cluttered with samples I have not used and have been deleted from my computer. How do I remove these from the attribution list so i dont make a mistake when I do need to Attribute a work.
Thanks
There's no way to do that right now short of maybe editing the database.
Perhaps you can manually keep an attribution list of the sounds you are using instead of using the automatic one. Just write down the ones you decide to keep.
If you ask Bram he might consider putting this on the todo list but the above is all I can suggest with the current system.
one other thing. The name of the file is "SampleNumber_SampleAuthor_SampleName" maybe try locating the original file and attributing people this way?
At the top of the attribution list page, it reads "If there are files you didn't use, you can delete them from the list." So there must be a way! Can you please explain how to do that? (Very often I have downloaded files and then decided not to use them.)

+1 for this feature.
Want to keep attribution list consists of sounds I'm actually using.
For me it would be enough if it wouldn't list my own samples: http://www.freesound.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5398

I like it, that it shows what a particular person downloaded. If they downloaded some stuff of you, then you can check out, what else he downloaded. This makes you understand the context in which your sample will probably beeing used.
Furthermore: You get all the sounds for free and it is not that hard so write down, what samples you used what for. So less work for such a big library.
If everybody could delete his/her att. list, I think most of the lists would be empty, `cause most of the people would download as much as they can and then delete their lists, pretending that they haven`t anything at all.

I'd like to be able to maintain this list so it only shows samples I'm actually using.
Dodging attribution would be an easy thing for anyone to do with the current system; not supporting cleanup doesn't really make it any more difficult to do that. The people who come here are people who want to be legal in the first place so I don't see the issue with allowing people to tidy up their attribution lists.
It would be enough to just add a field that allows us to set "Attribution Visible" for a record if deleting the attribution is for some reason more complicated.
