I have some requests, i am going to put them here to not open a new topic each time:
-Own sounds ordered by downloads or other
I would like to order my own sounds, on my profile by most downloaded or even better by most downloaded or longer or most rated etc... i suppose it would be like a little search engine for my own profile, I would like to do the same when browsing other people's profiles.
-Profiles as blogs
Yes, i would like that my profile was a little blog, little ammount of features. Be able to write comments, be able to feature other people, so , to have links to other people's sounds that i like specially. Able (maybe) to have a list of friends and (maybe) to post pictures there too.
(... to be continued...)

-Voting samples => Garbage
I don't think that feature is needed or very used according to the ammount of votes on the list of the most rated ones. Do people really vote the samples? i never do.
-Most downloaded EVER
The list of most downloaded being for the last 7 days it's good because it keeps it fresh, but a list of the most downloaded ever would be nice too. Anyway, what happens if nobody downloads anything for 7 days ? (just curious)

nobody downloading in 7 days??? dont think that will ever happen unless the server is down for seven days
I know that let's call it hipotetical situation of extremely bizarre 7 whole day no-download fever... I am asking how will the system react
I agree with you as far as a way to sort your sounds. Maybe by alpha, rating, age, etc... Good idea!
Hardly anyone messes with the forum profiles as far as I have seen. I do like checking out what other people have downloaded which might only mean they wanted to hear it in media player instead of preview however. I was wondering why some folks were only downloading their own sounds and I think that's what is happening.
As for voting... I vote on every file I listen to. I think the coolest thing about this site is the interactivity and feedback. Users should be required to vote in order to download sounds. "Most downloaded" doesn't indicate quality, creativity or technique. It only proves more people were looking for a sound like that and how long it's been posted. Look at billboard charts and pop music for proof that just because something's popular doesn't mean it's any good. There should be voting on sample packs as well in addition to description for the sample packs. We owe it to each other to give feedback on the sounds we find. I am surprized at the lack of votes on files myself but I'm in Florida so I might be biased as far as voting goes, last time I didn't vote I had to listen to people whine and bitch for a year... ROCK THE VOTE!

.... Users should be required to vote in order to download sounds. ...
Initially, I really liked this idea, but then I realized that you can't really evaluate a sound until you've heard it in it's full bandwidth version. Making a judgment from the preview isn't very accurate.

I too would like to see a way to re-order sounds. Not just my own sounds, but the results of a search too.
I like the voting, but for a purely self-centered reason. I like to see how my sounds have been rating against the others. I check nearly everyday. At one point, my sounds were the top 10 downloaded in the previous 7 days, and I also held the 1,2 and 3 spots of the ranking. It seems silly and self absorbed, but It really put a smile on my face. Somehow, knowing that others were appreciating, or at least listening to the sounds that I recorded was very gratifying.

Can you post a sound of you tooting your own horn? I agree though... feedback is important and by the looks of it your sounds are still in high demand and appreciated. I vote highly on all your sounds and that storm sample pack is priceless... I am in the process of replacing the cheesy and copyrighted weather sounds from my songs with your stuff. Your thunder sound is how I googled upon this sight in the first place. Free, quality and copright/royalty free thunder sounds are difficult to find anywhere else. Great job!
I also like to see my sounds highly rated and was proud to be top in number of uploads for a fleeting moment. Jovica is slamming it now though... wow. Anyway, Keep up the good work!
P.S. have any arcade or amusement park field recordings? (roller coasters, pinball, vintage video games, etc.)

Maybe after downloading the file having a vote to return back to page? Like Plagasul says not many people seem interested in voting for some reason. So I doubt it would be on the priority list.
True, voting without hearing the full quality sample is not objective, however I look at a few things and deduct points accordingly without having to download in most cases.
1. Format... unless there was no choice or an honest mistake was made anything less than CD quality wav or aiff gets points taken off immediately.
2. Sound quality... I can recognized a clipped or non normalized sound by lookng at it. If it's an organic sound and it's a solid blotch in the waveform picture it's clipped. If it's a tiny squiggly line it's too quiet. Big gaps of silence before and after the sound also annoy me.
3. Initial sound... If the preview hurts my ears with dissonant aliasing frequencies that make your eyes water, there's a good chance a full band frequency sound could be used as a non lethal weapon. I have heard samples that literally hurt... headache... slight nausea... etc.
Once I hear the full quality sound, I consider these factors:
1. Recording quality- it is what it is though. A sound from a 20 year old cassette recorded on a boombox is gonna have hiss. I don't like using noise reduction that much and I take things in context. On the other hand someone with a studio quality mic, preamp, etc... should have a decent sound.
2. Creativity/Originality- If it's cool, it's cool. I'll overlook some factors and give it a good vote, rarely a 10. But stick a wireless mic in a ziplock and throw it over Niagra falls and you get at least a 9!
