The preview for the sound http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=44980 sounds weird, sounds like it was filtered. The original mp3 file sounds good.
Can someone confirm?
effectively the preview of your sound is very distorted compared to the listening of the downloaded sound.
I have the same problem: the sound I have uploaded at full quality of the sea plays back horribly with the preview, but is fine once you download it:

Apparently there is a radical compression of the sound, and complex sounds with lots of pink noise (water, soundscapes with plenty of events) are hard to compress.
The problem is that I would not bother to download my own file if I only heard the preview. This could be a serious problem, as quality drops so much in the preview that it is not really a preview anymore.

Thats correct.
It is always a compromise between fast listening and "what is this sound". I understand that choice of the system administration. I have no complaints about the number of downloads. Users seem to know it.
