I downloaded a few of the drum sample packs made by Crispydinner, and most of them will not work in Reason 6.5. I try to load the sounds into a kong drum designer, and keep getting the message "Unsupported Format" despite all of the samples being in the .wav format. Can anyone help with this? I love all the sounds and would like to use them.
Although the .wav format is ok, the devil is in the details...
Look for instance at the details of this sound:
http://www.freesound.org/people/crispydinner/sounds/131818/
Type Wave (.wav)
Duration 00:00:586S
Filesize 202.5 KB
Samplerate 44100.0 Hz
Bitdepth 32 bit
Channels Stereo
Check the Kong's specs about Samplerate, Bitdepth and Channels, and edit the sounds to match the required specs.
Disclaimer: I don't know the base tools available in windows, so this advice might be overkill O:^)
As a sound editor, you might try Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)
When you import a sound in Audacity, you'll see its specs; when you export the sound, after choosing .wav format, you can set the other options at will.
I haven't yet found Kong's exact requirements, but a page about a commercial pack mentioned 24 bit samples, so maybe that's the culprit (at least the one I mentioned as example has 32 bit depth).
A little follow-up: I've downloaded a free drumkit for Kong by Voltage-Controlled, and its samples are Stereo, 16 bit depth, 44100Hz.
Tell us at least one of the samples you want to use and I'll convert it to those specs in Audacity for you, so you can check if it works.
Well I downloaded multiple sample packs by crispydinner, specifically the kickin a$$ drums, fat 909 snares, and the mighty snares packs. It would be a total pain to have to import every individual sample into audacity, just to export it again. I have audacity, so I will try that, but hopefully there is a more simple method. Any other ideas would be great. Thanks
So I imported one of the sounds into Audacity and exported it as a 16-bit .wav file first, and still no dice in the Kong. I then exported it as a 16-bit .aiff file, and it works in the Kong.
Very weird since I have never had a problem with any type of .wav file before in the Kong.
Either way, thanks for your help.
You're welcome, but you're still having to deal with all the files...
You might want to create a processing Chain in Audacity to help with the conversion, or, more comfortably, search the net for a batch converter that might do the trick in one shot.

Awesome.Thanks again
I know our tech-wiz Sir Copyc4t nicely closed the thread, but I'd point out the same thing: never had any problem loading anything into reason. If you upgraded, your project preferences may have changed (although I can't be sure since I do not own 6.5; I'm still on 5).
I don't think I've tried any 32 bit file before, but any file which is 16 or 24 bit, from 22.1 to 96KHz, has been working fine at least in reason 5.
I upgraded from 5 to 6.5 about 2 months ago, and this is the first time I've ever had any problems loading samples into a Kong.
The only changes I've had to make to my preferences was changing the cpu usage limit to none, and the buffer size to 1024, due to RE's slowing down my workflow. Even since making the changes, about 2 months ago, this is the first time I have ever encountered this particular problem in Reason.
