Often, when posting, my posts get considered spam. Don't know what to do.

It might be link-like objects. In that case, freesound [DOT] org (if I add a dot to it, it will be considered spam, no joking) should be excluded from the rule for a start?.

While so far I've had no trouble putting even several links in the same message, and other users occasionally had the problem, just today it happened to me too.

I guess dynamic anti-spam countermeasures are reacting to some bold spam attempts, and temporarily tightened the knot.

+1 on this issue.

I gave up on a post the other day and PM'd it instead because I couldn't get past the spam filter! It may have been a freesound link in the message - I hadn't considered that as a possible cause...

It happens to me frequently.

I almost always get blocked from posting links in the comment section of the individual sound pages, and -less frequently- on forum posts...

When I recently attempted to edit my Freesound profile that too was considered spam and rejected even if I do not modify the existing text, (which contains links). I get the red warning message ...

"Your 'about' text was considered spam, please edit and resubmit. If it keeps failing please contact the admins."

Maybe being frequent posters makes us look like spammers.

I would have thought that profiles with few previous posts that start trying to post lots of links would get blocked as potential spammers. I would not have thought it works the other way around - i.e., someone who has been a user for years and has hundreds (or thousands!) of posts already should be a 'trusted user'.
Somehow the spam filter does not seem to think so!

I do not know if the spam filter is in-house or if it comes from a third party provider...
Only the site admins will know and only they can perhaps help.

Until then, the solution is to disguise the link either by typping "dot" instead of "." or something else.
Annoying. But can be worked around.

IMHO, this is without question a defect. It is absolutely essential that people be allowed to post links to where they have used a sound.

Perhaps someone at the university is now using freesound to perform psychological experiments on us?

I just tried to post a link to another thread. Trying to be a good Samaritan and help someone it wouldn't let me post the link, even with the "." replaced with "[dot]".

Okay, so I have discovered that its just the www[dot]freesound[dot]org URL that is being mistreated.

I think all other links are fine.

This is a real problem we've got here, as its the URL of the website we are all posting in.

Should anybody here have python server programming experience, the spam analysis function is located at http://github.com/MTG/freesound/blob/master/utils/spam.py

Thanks for driving the resolution.

BTW, I was merely linking to the most relevant info in their FAQ about the problem, where they naturally suggest that the problem must not be with their own code, but with how you (freesound in this case) are using it. Kind of funny. They should have said how to report the problem when you know it's none of those "most likely" possibilities, but perhaps they're trying to reduce superfluous support traffic.

We have a ticket for this: people who have uploaded sounds will be whitelisted from spam-detection. I.e. upload a sound, we consider you to be a cool guy. Don't ask me when it will be done, but know it's on a list somewhere

Looks like the word the spam filter is objecting to is within the user name "are16ocean".
