If I Google "www.freesound.org" the names
FoolBoyMedia , toiletrolltube , Oceanictrancer
appear ...

I've never seen Freesound contributors mentioned in Google search results like that before,
( it's a good-job that members with risqué pseudonyms weren't selected :¬)
I just Googled "freesound.org" again , and same three contributors names appear.
They are on the not in "Recent Additions" , so it's baffling why their names appear in the Google search. Similar forums , e.g. ReverbNation , ccMixter, SoundCloud, don't show contributors names if I Google the name of the forum.
I regularly listen to stuff on SoundCloud , so if it's due to the my Google-filter-bubble surely the Google search should have suggested some SoundCloud artists I have listened to before.
I just did this, and the usernames that appear on my screen are:
klankbeeld
toiletrolltube
FoolBoyMedia
OceanicTrancer
I am equally baffled as I cannot find any reason why these names are picked and not others (nothing sticks out from these users in terms of recent posts, sound uploads, most active users, total numer of uploaded sounds, etc...)
Also, in terms of my own downloaded sounds or PMs these would not be the users I would expect to see listed in terms of my recent activity at Freesound...
A mystery...
I got the same four user names but the bix is not yellow like in timbre's screenshot. I then cleard my browser (which I do quite regularly) and the same four contributors.
I don't like the filter bubble.
Horrible insidious internet how I love to hate you.
Even if you have no skeletons in your browser closet it's still a real pain in the bum if you run a business or website. There is a good article on that subject and how to turn it off. Easy enough for a dummy like me
Unfortunately now I can't find that article... Basically it was about a guy who googled his business to see if his SEO was doing well, and after time getting untrue results, whatever that means on the internet these days
I'm really sorry I actually posted a link to a different article, I was on my lunch break trying to cut and paste a link on my stupid damn smart phone
@toiletrolltube LoL!

I added the yellow highlight.

Turning off your Google-search-history won't get rid of your Google filter-bubble :
from your IP address and your browser-fingerprint Google can identify you :¬0

When you delete items from your Search History, they are no longer associated with your Google Account. However, Google may store searches in a separate logs system ...
i.e. they still retain a copy of your Google searches, even when you have deleted your Google search history.
You have to use an anonymous-proxy do a Google-search without Google filtering the results based on your previous searches :¬(
Those names are kind of random. The "send a message to X" links are also seen when you are not logged in on freesound, so google indexes those links. Why it chooses to show them in a search, no idea, but it doesn't hurt anyone.
Nothing to see here, move along people.

Here's how searching for "www.freesound.org" looks via "StartPage" . (which is a proxy "enhanced by Google")

Because of the contributors names now being listed, the listing for "Freesound.org - help - Frequently Asked Questions" appears on the second page of "StartPage" results : FAQ should get higher-billing than that.
There is some interesting information being shared here about how search engines work and the like.
However, as Bram pointed out, as far as Freesound is concerned it is a non-issue.
Also, it is definitely not a Freesound bug or error or something that somehow originated at Freesound.
