At the risk of getting yelled at, the file I'm trying to download is a .flac file, not recognized by Windows. I've tried all the things below and in the faqs. Save As only offers .flac or "any" which isn't recognized. Any other options for getting a .wav or any other Windows-supported format? Don't tell me to use Firefox, please -- unacceptable.

If it's a .flac file, then you can only download it as .flac. Choice of internet browser makes no difference. You then need a plugin or converter to convert it to WAV. Such things are discussed in these forums, I'm sure (will browse later when I have more time).
Or you could always ask the author if they will email you a WAV or MP3 version.

Firefox dialog box says "save link as" rather than "save target as" (I presume that must be on other browsers?); this works to download on many other sound-sites, but not this one. Also, this php file (unreadable by anything I've got) always gives itself the same title "sample.. .php"
Can anyone help?
@applied: i understand your confusion in the firefox/flac topic. I have no trouble downloading the files at college in Internet Explorer, as previously stated, just save target as...
also, if you would like to understand the .flac bit, click the link in my signature. But to sum it up;
In oreder for a quick upload /download time the sample and bit rate in music needs to be lowered. For listeneing to music on your mp3 player, this is fine, but if you are using it for a recording/piece, you want the best sound possible, the best bit and rample rate. .flac is very similar to zip. It compresses the music file without losing quality in the rates, so you have an mp3 sized file with a Wav quality. This is why you are probably going to see more and more flac files on freesound, and probably everywhere else as the file gets more popular.
