This may not be news to some, but its something I just finished testing which lead to this discovery. I've been using this site for years and have taken this aspect for granted or just didn't care. I played a certain sound on this site and heard that it had some lo-fi 'squeaks' or 'rings' or whatever it's called. If I remember correctly, most sounds actually on this site have a little quality issues. Here's the sound ::

As you can hear (or maybe not, but some can) there is some lo-fi 'shimmering' going on. Like I said, usually I don't care but this time I wanted to test things out. So I began the download. After a grueling 2 seconds it was on my phone, opened it up in my trusty default sound app, then low & behold... No lo-fi 'crystalization'.
Just wanted to share this with you guys. Not too sure if this is bad news since I'm exposing a flaw of this site, but it's mostly good news to me. I'm sure there's a lot of variance depending on the sound, user, server, satellite etc. Either way, let's try to be conscious of our fidelity and keep a precise clarity as an inate quality. At this point in our global intra-web maturity, we have the means to kiss 💋 that lo-fi 'rust' off to a deep dark past.~
Hi Andre,
There are other posts noting this problem with more opinions and ideas.
Here are some links-

Personally I think the easiest solution is to put an information box (or a mouse-over "hover" caption on the link) on pages contain previews warning of the poor quality as somebody suggested.

Cool, I just wanted to write something. It is somewhat of an issue, but personally i just re-process the sound to give it a new fidelity. I'll check out those links.
I like your quote "Heaven in the sky is to die for, Heaven on earth is to live for."

Thanks,
One of my alter-egos used to think up quirky snippets when younger. Then I went off alcohol and it all stopped.

I still insist this should be default playback quality:
Sampling rate: 44.1
Bit depth: 16bit
Bitrate: 192Kbps
This is will remove any quality issues we have with lossy playback. I heard the bandwidth cost argument and I don't agree. Avarage files accessed worldwide getting bigger globally and bandwidth cost is decreasing as a result.
