Anything larger than a megabyte or two requires me to pause and resume the download every few seconds in order to actually finish it. The download either starts out at a peak speed and drops off from there, or it builds up over a few seconds, and then drops off to zero over a few seconds, or near zero. I'm on a college network in Michigan which has quite a fast connection normally - the download speed has gone up to 1 MB/s, once or twice. Of course, my download speed depends on how fast the server I'm connected to will send data to me, while Freesound seems to be capable of fast speeds it's not capable of sustaining it for any reasonable length of time. If there's any information I can provide that would help, let me know.
Hi YAOMTC, thanks for reporting.
We're experiencing general problems with speed in Freesound which I'm quite sure are related to what you mention. We have moved data to a new set of disks which were supposed to perform very well, but this is not what we have been observing in the last days. We are working to fix this or find an alternative solution, but we can't guarantee an immediate fix now. Thanks for your understanding! I'll keep you updated.
