Hello freesound!
Im a totally new user and I was very happy when i found this website, cause I think it's funny to "play" with all these great samples!
Im a drummer and I think it could be fun to play-along with these samples, and to do that i need to loop the "songs" or the beats.. I have downloaded some differences samples, but when i loop the sounds the beat is staggered/displaced?
How do I avoid that?
Thanks!
LS
not sure what you mean by staggered or displaced. But are you sure youre using the right bpm's?
When i loop my sample fx a drumloop the loop is not a "continuous" beat, everytime the time has elapsed for a fx a beat which last 3 seconds, their is a little break.. Let me spell it out: If I start my metronome together with the beat it will not fit in, even if I am using the right bmp's
I see what you're saying.
What's happening is the sample is at a certain bpm for a certain number of measures, but there's a bit on the end that's not part of the loop. For example, a 4 measure beat at 120bpm should play for 8 seconds, but the sample might be 9 or 10 seconds long. I do this with some of my samples. This sample loops perfectly, while this sample has a bit of extra on the end.
The best way to fix this is to do the math and figure out how long the sample should be, and then cut off whatever isn't needed.
Also, looping the sound with the Freesound player isn't exactly perfect; you will always have the looping problem using the Freesound player. I don't know exactly how you're looping the beats, but it's better to use a program like Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to loop them.
But if I wanted to use a loop that was 162bpm, I would open up LMMS (http://lmms.sourceforge.net/), set the bpm for the project to 162, put the sample in for however many measures the sample is, and loop that. It works all the time (assuming you have the right bpm). I could show you if you would rather use that method.
I'll need more information on how you're looping the sample. Also, which samples you're looping would be helpful information as well.

Thanks a lot for the answer, I think my problem is solved
