Hello - I teach in a middle school and I would love to have students be able to use resources from Freesound in audio and video projects. Currently one of the most recent/newest sounds posted is sexual in nature, so it shows up at the top of the front browsing page.
Is there a way I can filter to avoid certain users (like the person who posted ten different versions of this audio at once) or exclude explicit material?
Thanks for any info.

Hi there
You can change the setting in your account to hide/obscure NSFW content.
https://freesound.org/home/edit/
"I'm an adult, I don't want to see inappropriate content warnings" -- Uncheck that box
The search results and lists will appear like this:
Get your students to all log in with the same account where you have changed the settings and they will all get this filtering.

Initially only some of the porno-channel sounds were blurred*,
so would still be visible even on accounts set to "hide/obscure NSFW content".
I think cburke wants to hide/obscure ALL the contributions from such users, just to be on the safe side,
i.e. create a blacklist of users whose content is not shown to their students.
[ * The moderators here usually catch the obscene stuff : it's a rare event for unblurred "adult" material to appear ].

Yeah, I got that. It's just not really viable with the current interface to achieve such a global filter unless you get into personalising web content with Javascript.
Ideally, the NSFW filter option would remove the content from the view entirely, so it's not accessible unless the option is checked. That would be a new feature to implement.

I have uBlock original in my browser. It's possible to block freesound with that,
but I don't think it's possible to just block sounds from specific Freesound contributor.
Thanks for your replies. I don't expect that any filtering schema would be 100% perfect all the time (though, as a teacher, I kinda wish). For my students, I think a Reasonably Good filter would be enough - I need to do due diligence, and these kids know that their school-issued devices are subject to monitoring if they do run across content that is not appropriate for school settings or for their age.
Some of them are also quite skilled at circumventing the filtering schemata, and all the grownups are aware of that too.
I will try the login/content warning suggestion and see how that works from a user perspective before linking this to my students. I *would* prefer to filter out specific users if needed, and I can look into writing the Javascript to make that happen - but this is simpler and I will try this first.
Thank you again! CB
