Is there any way to do this?
I'm attempted to run a charity stream through justgiving, but the alert sounds will only play if the website link ends in .mp3 and plays through a regular media player. I cannot find any way of getting that link but the website specifically links to freesound as the website to use.
Can anyone help me, I've been googling this for an hour and I'm going insane
Hi
It is possible to do this but you have to make sure you follow the rules of using Creative Commons licensed sounds and give attribution if using either CCBY or CCBY-NC licenses. If you can't give credit then stick to using CC0 sounds. For guide on crediting see this page... https://creativecommons.org/use-remix/attribution/
Getting the preview links is not a feature of the site so you need to do a little workaround.
Search for a sound. Naturally, the preview files are in mp3 format, so it doesn't matter if the sound was uploaded as .wav etc. But you can filter for license type and select CC0 for public domain sounds.
Here is an example: https://freesound.org/people/Yin_Yang_Jake007/sounds/415202/
When you're on that page, you can open developer tools in your browser. In Chrome it's under "view > Developer > Developer Tools". In the tools window there will be a "network" option/tab which will show you all the web connections for that page. If you then click on the sound play button, it should appear in the list as something similar to this: 415202_7919598-lq.mp3
When you've got that, you can right click on it and copy the link address and then get something like this: https://freesound.org/data/previews/415/415202_7919598-lq.mp3
I know this is a bit complicated, but hopefully you understood
