Yeah, Firefox doesn't work with some sites since the move to 3.X. They removed some code (save link target as) and the replacement doesn't work all the time. The procedure below works for me with FF 3.0.8.
Install the noscript plugin. Come to the freesound site. Make sure that the site is forbidden in noscript (this should be the default). Go to the sound you want to download. Instead of right clicking on the download icon, left click on it. This brings up a page to play it with the default player you have set up. But noscript blocks it from playing. On that page right click and select "save link as". It will now bring up the download dialog and actually download the sound instead of the php that links to the sound.
I mean the button that says "DOWNLOAD Right click and save as". As long as you are logged in that button should be there, whether scripting is turned on or not. Only now instead of right clicking it, you are left clicking it. When I do that a new page comes up for my player, with noscript blocking play. I just right click anywhere in that page and select "save link as". If I left click anywhere I can play the sound by hitting enter.
I tried to add an image of the button using the link below, but there seems to be something wrong at postimage.
Just had a thought.
You ARE clicking on the name of the sound to go to its page, right? That is the only place you can download from.
Hey Sjonnieke, is this really the only method of download on the latest Firefox('s)? I use version 3.5.3 and I have the same problems as the guy who started this thread and it really is time-wasting scripting then unscripting a page just to preview and download. if you discover any methods please let me know DopeNanny@aim.com
Thanks so much.
