I'm trying to download a sound, but I can't because QuickTime basic doesn't allow me to download sounds without upgrading to pro. Is there another way to download the sounds?

You shouldn't need any plugin except for previewing sounds on this website. There is a download link visible on every sample's detail page when you are logged in, that looks like this: http://www.freesound.org/img/dload.png

Sounds more like youre having issues playing it not DL'ing it. If you are having problems DLing it (which i don't believe is quicktime issue) the reason qt might be asking something is because its trying to play a format not supported? Taking a guess as I never had that problem when you can simply right click and save as.

I had this problem with quicktime opening up and then the option to save is grayed out (upgrade to quicktime pro). If you are on a mac the best way to deal with this is to open up your Activity window, copy the url for the file, then open up the downloads window, and paste your file. You should be able to download anything that way. Quicktime is stupid. I don't know if this is your problem. But it worked for me when I was having this issue.

Same problem I am having. The download link is there, but the clip is then played in a browser window with a quicktime player within. Saving it is not an option unless you upgrade to QT pro.

Great solution for MAC users. Any ideas for PC users?

OOH, I got it.

I use Firefox, but similar settings may be in IE. Go to Tools> Options> Applications. then you can specify what you want Firefox to do with certain types of files. I changed the option to save file. Now all is good.

Hey guys, i have the same problem, i was thinking...

Where exactly am i supposed to click? Cos i see alot of clicking options x) I suppose its the button that says 'right click to download' and stuff, just need to fix that think your talking about rmaytee, thanks for that btw, really helps. Just need to figure the fileformat before config'ing it.
