Please be patient with me, I am a newbie and will be asking stupid questions.
I am doing a school project and using Audacity. I have download .wav and .mp3 files from other sites and have had no issues with opening or importing those audio files into Audacity. However, all of the freesound.org files I download are saving at 17k file size, no matter what the original file size. If I try to open the files I get a line 82 error, if I try to import the files I get the error "File type not recognized".
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Audacity twice along with the mp3 Lame file plug-in.
I really appreciate any help on this.
Thanks
AJ
I have a student in the Digital Media course I teach who has exactly the same problem.
Anyone else?
I don't have an answer, but need to get this resolved.
I had no trouble downloading the same files my student tried, but using a Mac.
She is working on a PC - Windows XP using Firefox. I advised her to try another browser...
my student just called me:
if you click on the button first, rather than right click, and play the file. Then choose Save As... from Firefox's file menu, it will save the audio file properly.
It appears as though the download button script does not work properly in Firefox. Right clicking the button and choosing Save As... saves the page, not the file.
This appears to be a problem with Firefox. I've been told inbetween versions they deleted some code handling the "Save Target As..." function. You could try using a different browser (such as Opera) to see if that solves it.
