Hi,
I uploaded a drum kit and then grouped them as a pack and selected "new pack". All individual sounds can be downloaded, but no pack was generated, the link to the zip file doesn't work. What's going on? Do I have to create the zip and FTP it myself? How does it work?

When you select "New Pack" you have to give the new pack a name, e.g."Drum Kit".
The samples I selected belong to a new pack: Drum Kit
I got a reply from webmaster that it's a problem on the freesound server, the pack generator doesn't work. We have gigabytes of drum samples we'd love to share and upload, but we cannot do it until we know that they'll be available in an organized and structured way. So anyone, please reply to this topic whenever it works and I'll continue to upload the drum kits.
Cheers
Mike
You can "assign" a sample to a pack after you have uploaded it, however this has to be done on an individual sample basis.
If you want to assign a batch of samples to a pack all at once this can only be done at the upload stage, (as I described above).

But then I need to create a pack first... and that function doesn't seem to work.

You could upload one drum sample as a test and assign it to a new pack called "drum Kit_1",
then if that works OK* then upload the rest of the drum samples and assign them all to that "drum Kit_1" pack when you upload by selecting "The samples I selected belong to an existing pack:", rather than individually assigning each sample to that pack after they have been uploaded, which would be tedious if there are a lot of them.
(* bear in mind there is a 24 -48 hour delay for moderation before a submission will appear on Freesound),
BTW packs can be downloaded as a zip file but you don't submit the samples in a zip files, they can only be submitted as audio files

Exactly.

Yes of course, but it doesn't work.
