the executable inside is ready to run, no setup needed.
Should you have trouble with the real time play controls, the fastest experiment you can do is load a very short wav, leave every parameter as is, go to the Write to file tab, check "32 bit", press "select all" and then "Render selection...". The file you'll save will be stretched by 8.04x.
Should it whet your appetite, the Process tab will put even more power in your hands
Excellent! Now I actually have an interface (don't mind if it's unfriendly) Before I just had a list of weird files . . . I actually got audacity working which has a paulstretch option so zagi2 I have mangled that loop like I promised. Flute and choir sound a bit shy to me; you could boost them a bit without covering the lead harpsichord, by widening/spatializing them a little too, or alternatively, panning one slightly left and the other slightly right. All of this IMVHO of course, and according to my personal taste which is not always right or mainstream
Well actually panning is among your best friends the more sounds get together
It can help clearing the "mud" you hear when different sounds clash on the same frequencies, it can help recreating the feeling of facing a live orchestra if you pan the sections as you'd see them on the stage, and, if automated in the DAW, it can move sounds around, like a car passing by.
This is a nice thing for dynamic panning for instance, quick and fun:

Interesting choice... I think the harpsichord is a difficult instrument to mix with others, because of its sound. It is very metallic and thus covers a lot of frequencies with each note. I never tried equing it or mixing with other things. - Actually it is one of my favorite instruments to listen to (but never used it in my compositions).
Most pieces I have heard tend to have harpsichord on its own.
2 suggestions for you to try:
1) Use a frequency scope plugin and find the fundamental frequency of your flute notes. This means the lowest frequency, which is usually the highest peak on the spectrometer.
(Just play the flute on its own and look at the scope).
All your flute notes are likely to be within one octave. - Imagine you find the fundamental frequencies of your flute mellody are in the range 450-800Hz. Go to the Harpsichor part and put a notch (or an inverse peak filer) in that frequency range.
Now play both parts together. Any improvement?
Maybe you can also raise the volume of the flute a little?
2) You can try this on its own or combined with the technique above.
Take a distortion plugin. Simple distortion works best (something that does not add reverb/echo, etc).
Apply the distortion to the flute. If your plugin has dry/wet, set it to 90% dry or around that value. You don't really want to hear a noticeable distortion. What you want is to make the flute "jump out of the mix" - sometimes it is possible to do that with a bit of distortion. Works better on other sounds (such as violins or trumpets). The flute sound is very pure, so you will notice distortion even at low amounts... but worth trying.
If your plugin does not have a dry/wet, simply copy the flute part to another channel, put the distortion on it and lower the fader to 0, then slowly increase while you listen to the two parts play together.
If it does not work well, make sure to try it while you apply the notch QE to the harpsichord as well.

Would be good if everyone that registered interest in collabs gets to post at least one or two loops and gets to manipulate at least one loop from someone and post back to Freesound.

Ahhh... and you should make sure you keep the project files for the loops you created and for any manipulations you have made of other people's sounds. - You never know... You could get a request like "really like your loop, but not the snare. Can you change it for a snappier one?" or "Here is a bassline I made that works very well with your loop. Wanna do a collab?"
So keep those files!

Yes. Good point: when working with people with different DAWs don't forget that it is possible to export midi clips from every DAW I know of.
If you are using the same plugins (free or not) it should also be possible to save and exchange preset files.
So I could replicate a synth riff you created by using your midi clip and loading the VST plugin with the same preset.
Gets more complicated if you are using automation, as this is not usually saved with the midi clips (or might not work as expected at the other end).

I am working on a piece based on some sounds that were posted by the participants to this thread. Should be ready to share in a few days. Still need to do some wortk on it and need to list all the samples I have used so I can attribute properly before posting online.
Anywaone else working on something that is related to the Collab Collective?
I have some pretty crazy loops I created during last weekend. Might clean them up and upload to Freesound, especially if there is any interest.
So, anyone still watching this thread?
