This app is beyond anything I'd ever want out of a music making app, and that too on an android platform.
Do NOT let the simplicity of it fool you.
It does almost everything I want my DAW to do and then some. Heck, the best part is I can literally download samples (or record samples) and put it right into the drum slots of my song as if it's nobody's business.
For anyone else trying this app out, if you want it to do something, it most likely already does it. It may take a little bit of learning, but the learning curve is not steep at all. Most of your questions should be answered by a long press on the item/slot/sample/instrument you are unsure about, and a menu will instantly pop up.
Who made this app, man, you deserve my money.
I'm gonna see if there's a pay-to-upgrade option or a donate button somewhere in the app. You totally deserve it.
Hi and thank you very much for this,
actually I made this app because of the lack of an easy-to-use App that works with samples and is a 'REAL' DAW, not a funny toy. That was two years ago, where I was already a fan of freesound.org and this great community.
But let me say - this Dare created by AlienXXX with a bit of my inspiration, is not about money. I owe you. I owe freesound. This App can only work, if freesounders like you start really working with it, start participating in that. Have their cc-licensed sounds spread via the App - not as single samples, but as compositions and instruments that are made out of them. The App will take proper care about your rights and attribution, and it should make a lot of fun to work with it.
We will work very hard to make that dream true, by adding effects to the App, thinking about a songbuilder as a kind of linear sequencer feature, and having more automation features, and the thing is: we can only build that with your feedback and participation. So please, don't 'buy' a Premium account - I promised you get it for free. You deserve it! just let me know your ufxloops username so I can upgrade your account.
Best regards
Andreas
I agree with afleetingspeck. Not too much effort to learn, definitely worth it. It's lots of fun actually.
It's nice to have all the community sounds as well as being able to use your own.
Really interesting that you can assign samples as instruments in the pianoroll.
Look forward to learning more.
Thanks for a great 'app' (although I think the word app doesnt do it justice )
Remember guys and girls that the developer is looking for your feedback. So if you find something that does not work or you have suggestions for improvement, please contact the developer.
Also remember that if you can't figure something out, support is just one email away.
I am actually considering getting an Android device so I can try it out. Just hope I can do it in time for the dare.
Yes, AlienXX, please do
I have a teaser for you -> we are nearly ready to ship the new release. It's mainly a maintenance release with a lot of little bugs fixed, and the community sounds are cached locally on the device now, and we introduce a lot of ready-to-use drum/percussion patterns.
But this new release will also have a new Demo. To wipe all doubts. Still a long way to go, but please listen what you can do with uFXloops, even if you're not a fan of dubstep (well it's not all dubstep).
https://soundcloud.com/ufxloops/may-i
I will of course attribute to the original authors of these samples, the main three loops are from freesound.org.
And if any of you has the enjoyment and time - please help me making the ending of this song even more epic. I'm dreaming of a choir in the end. You can use uFXloops for that in the next days, as this song is completely editable in the App of course.
Enjoy the new release, it should be out tomorrow by end of day, and tell me what you miss
Ok, the new version 1.15 is on Google Play now.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.ufxmedia.ufxloops
It's an important maintenance release, so now we will work on the next big functional release.
Grts, Andreas
Oh, one other thing:
Version 1.15 asks for another permission, namely the get_accounts permission. This is done for automatically prefilling the email input field during registration. (You can still change your email). It would also be useful for me if you feel offended by this (e.g. you have the feeling that the App spies out your personal data), or if this is something quite 'normal' for you in these days.
As we do nothing with that permission except prefilling the email field as a help for our users, we could also remove the permission again and let the user type in his/her email. However you wouldn't believe how many users make typos in their email address )
Best regards
Andreas
@uFXloops. Thx for your answer about when loops starts. The "ascii graphics explanation" was great, see https://www.freesound.org/forum/dare-the-community/35496/. I used 15 samples that where 15, 10, 8, 4 and 2 bars long. Not a good idea The program did what it should, but it was hard to keep track of when to start the right loop.
Me again...
2nd uFXloops beat done.

On my wish list is a smart fade in/out function!
Error report: Sometimes the program stop when you import samples and wants to listen to them before they are saved. Not often but it happens. And confusing things happen when you move slots. Even if you delete the slots that where moved, they still are… still moved… strange…
This time I used 2 bar loops, one 4bar and two 6 bar “one shots” (the reverse flute).
In this beat I used two freesound.org samples.

Hi gis_sweden,
thank you very much for creating this wonderful song on soundcloud. It's really fascinating what you got out of it. Did you create the Drums as an instrument too? The whole mix is great!
I will check and test your error report. I also examined some problems in the sample editor, where it seemed the samplepanel was not ready and threw some exception. I also do not know yet when this happens, but I'll find out and fix.
Slot move operations... hm, yes this is strange. I found out, when you move a slot once, it should be ok, but doing that several times, the event information seems to get lost. A reopen of the project usually helps, but I'll check that.
Regarding the Smart Fade/In Fade out, we have some vision on that:
you know currently there is no automation. We want and we will have automation in uFXloops and we have some rough idea how we make that work:
As we use slots to play everything, we also want to put automation as a kind of "dummy sample" in the slot. To create an automation you would just need to tell which param to automate (e.g. recording volume), how many bars this is long, and then draw a curve in a panel. You could even say, this should be an automation loop or an automation one-shot.
And when you start a slot with an automation in it, the automation just starts to run an does what you defined.
When we use this more general concept, you could later automate a lot of things in uFXloops. However we're still making up our minds, about whether the automation slots can be "normal" slots just containing samples and automations or whether they should be special slots, so they can be separately triggered, mainly how would be the user interaction and visuals of that. If you have preferences or ideas, let me know.
Meanwhile I also will improve the "manual" fade out (recording level knob). It seems it mutes the sound too fast when you put it down. Maybe have to apply some logarithmic scale here.
So again, many thanks for testing uFXloops so hard and for producing such a great song with uFXloops. It motivates me a lot to see that despite some bugs you are able to compose and produce with it.
First, the drums are my own samples/loops. Bass drum and snare are sampled from a drum machine. The "shaker sound" are rice in a plastic packing shaked This is freesound.org
I use uFXloops in my phone so a fade in/out function has to be automated/pre defined. I have a loop in slot X I want to fade in and out. The fade in to max volume should take 6 bars and the fade out is also 6 bars. This could be defined via "wheels" like the one you use when importing samples.
Keep on working
Nice tracks, very cool!
I've been trying to break the pianoroll and experimenting with instruments. I love the solo/pitchbend option, you can get some really great sounds.
sadly having battery problems and phone won't stay on for very long. New battery coming so will get back into it soon.
Hallo! New let me hear some more uFXloops creations. I just made another one.

As I have said I miss fade in/out. But thats a feature that will be added. I hope
Works better than launchpad for iPad imho.

After all this is freesound.org... I have to give thanks to the following freesounders

They contributed to my drums
P.S. Maybe you noticed that i faked fade in/out (costed me 2 slots).
Hello gis_sweden
Another nice track
Why post here rather than in the dare thread? There is no limit to the number of entries.
You seem to be having fun with the UFXLoops app.
I have just recently started. Not sure I can catch up with you if you keep posting tracks like this.
~just jocking. Don't let me stop you, please carry on and keep sharing your creations.
Very nice, I like the stereo pan on the hihats.
Yes, you will get the fade/panning automation soon, however I cannot promise that it will be before christmas. It's tricky function to make this fading possible with more bars fade time than the actual slot bars. And I still need to work and overcome my broken heart How do you like the fat line and the slot move bugfix and the merge function on slots . With the merge function you can start creating your songs with a lot of slots and then merge some of them into one if you need more space in the soundboard.
Thank you very much for your dedication. It seems you really have fun with uFXloops
@AlienXXX Finaly I will decide which track I submit to the dare. I only want to "compete" with one.
Post you works. Dont wait for the perfect track. I'm sorry to say this but the perfect track will find it self - afterwards... If you know what I mean.
@ufxloops I havent checked that fat line out yet, sorry. I'll do that. I read about that merge function. Sounds great - if it works the way I hope. I will try it out. Broken heart doesn't sound good
Keep up the good work everybody!
New uFXloops beat...
This time i connected my smartphone to my Kaoss Pad 3. That machine is hocked to the mixer where I added some reveb. Just a little... Recorded to my Dynasonic PDR-1...
No, I have no fancy soundcard :-/ Opened the file in Audacity for some "mastering"... Well.
Long track. But it sound the way I want it to sound #uFXloops

I posted my little track in the dare thread. Unfortunately for the track I spent too much time messing around and making instruments (it's just so fun and gives you more creative control over composition)
I'll definitely be using ufxloops more in the future.
@ gis_sweden. Wow all your hard work making those great tracks is really impressive. You are a natural!
