I just got an idea and here it is.

It's a bucket-brigade style sound design process. Someone makes a sound, loop, short music clip, or whatever, and posts it. Person 2 does something to that sample, then passes it on to Person 3, and so on. We end up with a set of related samples that everyone has shaped and everyone likes at least a bit.
The OP for a chain can make a simple rule about how it works. One rule per chain. Some example rules:
RULE 1
We add together our sounds back-to-back so that one plays directly into the other (a true chain).
...and so each of us has direct control over how the resulting whole will sound, allowing us to do sound design and compose music at the same time!
RULE 2
We make a sound of a certain length and it must remain that length. We must add/remove/overwrite the existing sound to change it into its next version.
...and so the sound transforms many times over in a continuitous way!
RULE 3
We make a samplepack where the original sample is transformed into different "instruments":
- a short percussive instrument
- a texture instrument with a lot of articulations
- a melodic instrument with long sustain
...and so we end up with all the parts of an ensemble, orchestra, or band!

What do people think? Wanna get one going? Which rule do you like? Got any others to suggest?
No interest in this? Well, I think I will do a chain using Rule 3 on my own. I've had the idea for some time, and after recently discovering a Decent Sampler library called Organic Orchestra in which the maker(s) did something very similar, I've been inspired to do my own version with my own samples. Now I just need some super-precise filtering method...
Hey, I was just having a similar idea! I want to play this! You need to start with a sample though
