I noticed that some people in their posts have used sounds on here for commercial purposes with Games or applications as sound effects. But the actual legal code of CC License Sampling+
states :
"...if You choose to use the original Work as a whole, You must either use the Work as an insubstantial portion of Your Derivative Work(s) or transform it into something substantially different from the original Work. In the case of a musical Work and/or audio recording, the mere synchronization ("synching" of the Work with a moving image shall not be considered a transformation of the Work into something substantially different."

To me that really sounds like you can't use sound samples like gun shots in something like a game unmodified. Because a game is basically a moving image and therefore would not qualify the use of the original work.
I really wish that Freesound would have a better license to use for people who want to truly give away their sounds with no strings attached.(royalty free, or just attribution of work) It looks like Bram has the right idea of wanting to switch FreeSound to an Atribution 2.5 CC license.(as stated in the Creative Commons Interview)
But until that format is implemented anyone trying to use sounds unmodified as something like a gunshot should make sure with the creator they can truly freely use it.
Please see the sticky at the top of the forum, where the licensing situation is under discussion (and under a vote):
