Hi,
as some of you might have noticed the flash players on freesound sometimes really act weird (especially if you're using Firefox). I think there is only one remedy and that is to use a master-slave scenario. I.e. have one master flash player which can play/loop more than one file at a time and then have multiple slaves connecting to this player.
I.e.
slave 1 sends: play file X, set loop to on
slave 2 sends: play file Y, set loop to on
slave 1 sends: stop file X
slave 2 sends: stop file Y
Note:
1. The slaves don't have to be flash, but can be clickable images that send javascript. This is actualy preferred as it would lighten up the page loading of freesound a LOT.
2. The master HAS to be able to play more than one file at the same time, as this is really fun in Freesound
3. right now the Firefox flash plugin has a bug: if more than (exactly) 15 instances of the flash player try to load and play sound, it starts misbehaving, making it troublesome to have more than 15 players per page in Firefox.
4. all of this needs to support the streaming model as we can't have the soundfiles being loaded onPageLoad.
If anyone (knows/is) a really good flash programmer who can handle all of these things, please let him know about this problem and ask him for some help.
thanks a lot,
- Bram, your friendly freesound host
