I was looking for some SFX that I could use commercially (without paying fees, and having zero copyright infringements), and my friend suggested this place. I don't know anything about "thefreesoundproject", so if soneone could explain the purpose of this place, I would appreciate it.
acclivity
I'm afraid if you want zero copyright issues, and for commercial use, you've come to the wrong place.
Hmm... I see some potential for miscommunication.
First, the OP said copyright issues rather than infringements. "Issues" is pretty vague, but not equal to (while possibly including) infringements.
Also, the OP said "commercially" which might -- or might not -- mean "in an advertisement." The term "commercial" can also just mean "in commerce," i.e., in a monetary transaction, normally but not exclusively intended to generate a profit. Unless I've grossly mis-read the license, for-profit use is not prohibited (e.g., I could create an album using sounds from here and sell it). As I understand it, the "commercial" prohibition is against use in advertisements (i.e., where "commercial" is a noun meaning "advertisement" rather than an adjective).
