It's never the sounds that I expect will be appreciated... When I upload sounds, I think "eh, this one will get one or two downloads..." and then it gets 9 right away. Or I think, "i really like this one, surely others will as well," and it goes weeks before getting a single download.

LOL. I think the ones that most surprised me were some samples I posted when doing some testing of VST effects (almost VST prototypes, really).
I made some postings in a forum explaining how I had used the plugins to obtain this or that effect.
I needed to post some sound examples along with the explanations. This was before I had my dropbox account, and I decided to post the sounds in freesound...
I thought they would be of no use to anyone... Some got a few downloads... Imagine my surprise the other day when one of those sounds got a comment from someone saying it was exactly what they needed! LOL
