I donated the other day...and it was a struggle, the page that comes up is in Spanish?
Any chance of changing this to English, I am sure it is putting people off.
digifish
I was more offended at the euro than spanish when I donated, but then again I live in florida. Freesound uses english better more than my state, and they are in spain! I think there may even be people in other countries that don't want to speak english just because you do. Another rumour going around is that each country has it's own government and culture, but I will consult the ministry of truth to erase that. So if any "english as a second language" folks don't get my sarcasm, and google tranlsate is not up to snuff, I was joking. Who cares, dinero means money, euros are like dollars without presidents, just click the firggin button. I believe it should be mandatory in the US to speak english and pay taxes but this is not the US, yet. (another joke from the imperialist neo-con that burns the ganja and curses all the time). If anything spain will be speaking arabic someday anyway, so be thankful spanish shares almost the same alphabet and is read left to right and it easily translated with google language tools, just through the URL in the box and hit translate. Works for text only, so banners may be en espanol.
By the way digfish, some of those sounds on your site are pretty cool for mp3's. I may use some copter noises in my newest anti-jihad soundtrack project.
Muchos gracias por tu dinero, si pagaste.

I would be inclined to agree with you if the rest of this site was in Spanish, but it isn't it's English, so you would expect the donate page to come up in English. I ended up donating, but I am sure it will put a number of people off the process when they are confronted with it after clicking donate.
In summary, you missed my point.
digifish
Nope, got your point loud and clear. I simply posted a tool from google to translate that site into english and made a point that your statement might look awfully anglocentric to some ofthe other users on here strugglign to type english to accomodate us on here. I am actually outraged when I call my bank and have to press one for English. But just because Al Gore invented the internet, users are under no mandate to speak in English online. This site is in Spain and was started by a Dutchman so I am thrilled it's in English.
Did you know there are more English speakers in India than the US? I believe China also. Did you hear me complimenting your sounds or did you jump right to the click reply button? I was not being a smartass towards you, I have enough people online to battle with at the moment. Check out my anti-jihad songs at achive and you will see I have bigger fish to fry. I found a comanche sound I am using or may have already used now that I think about it. Just google "NoiseCollector", "archive" and "jihad" and see... Peace.
ACtually NC, Bram is a Belgian
Im sure its just annoying paypal 'feature' because since this place is hosted in spain on a spanish university using spanish public funding the paypal acount is a spanish one too....

Sure, but I think Digi is quite right anyway. Filling forms in a strange (well, for some rare people out there, ha ha) language is alway scary, even more if the form is about giving money. It would put *me* off if the page were in German, for example. Likely disconcerts people, but don't know if can be 'fixed' or not...

This is my point. The site is in English, I go to donate and suddenly Spanish appears. So now I am 2x nervous. I am not sure if I have been hijacked by spy-ware or not. So I forget about donating. So if it stays in English all is consistent and I am happy.
This has nothing to do with language elitism/imperialism.
digifish.
OMG Bram is Belgian? All this time I thought he was Dutch... This changes everything. Bram? but seriously digi, I get your point. I have not been on here much in a while and had a horrible day so the post might have came off the wrong way. I normally would have agreed with you... I think.
Actually I can see an easy way to have the link come up in english...the page will start with...
https://www.paypal.com/es/...[deleted]
just change it manually to
https://www.paypal.com/en/...[deleted]
...if it's too hard to change it, how about a pop-up note to that effect? Bram?

hey digifishmusic, this problem SHOULD have been solved a few days ago... Could you give it a shot?- bram
OK, it works now...I tried it this afternoon and it was still in Spanish.
...so now if donations don't increase I will look like a dweeb
Regards Scott
it was pretty obscure to see how to set the language... if the "receiver" is spanish they automatically set all the pages to spanish. *sigh*
anyway, it's fixed now!
actually I'm happy you brought this to my attention again because I had tried fixing it two days ago and thought it WAS fixed and it wasn't...

I think I will finally buy a T-shirt instead of donating, but the double-sided one I want is pretty expensive
Just do it Halleck. I did it and ever since I've become more popular, got more friends, and sometimes I even don't get kicked when I say something in public...

If it wasn't freesound - this would smell of a hustle to keep people piling on the paypal donations. LOL.

Actually the was this came about was that I have been using Freesound sounds commercially, so what better thing to do than to donate to the site. When I donated the PayPal was in Spanish...so I reported it as I was sure that wasn't what was intended.
I am in no way connected with this site other than a contributor and commerical user...
