I'm new to freesound so I'm sorry if my questions are answered elsewhere.
I'm working on a research project to try and learn about how we categorize and understand sound and texture. I need hundreds, perhaps thousands, of sounds to have a computer program analyze. I was pointed to your site by the Music, Mind and Machine group at the MIT Media Lab (I'm working on this project with people at the media lab.)
I'm looking for a way to acquire a large number of sound files and their tags. What would you prefer I do? Is there some place to download this information?
Thanks!
i'd say if you're working with MIT, they should be able to help you with that right?
.......................................Maybe you could see bram to see if he can burn you a CD-R of samples to use or something like that. Because I think that all of the uploads on freesound are stored on one server, and if bram or someone can get in there they could just scoop up a few thousand samples directly from the server database on dump them onto a few CD's....................................maybe not.......................
i guess we'll just have to wait to see who says what here and then yeah.....
sorry i shouldn't have replied when i have no actual information to give please forgive me mr. moderator...
I'm positive bram would or will reply or contact you. something tells me he won't give you the sounds because that mean's everyone here would have to be asked if they would allow this. but hey he could do a post and ask us if its okay. which would probably be the case.
anyway good luck with that. For more help contact Bram.
