I'm sure most people here are aware of this Futurist artists' manifesto from the early 20th century.
I started to ponder the idea of a taxonomy of sound effects ~ til i stumbled across the Tags link:

This fascinates me, however the Art of Noises seems interested in how sounds might be categorized in terms of their pure sonic qualities, as opposed to what created the sound. For example 'slams' instead of 'door'.
I wonder how Russolo would consider synths and computer based music of today?
Rather than seeing sounds lumped into categories of what they are, I'd be interested to find a taxonomy of sounds organized by how they sound. It doesn;t matter if its fingers, twigs, or nuts - these kinds of sounds would be 'cracks'. Their source is irrelevant.
Is anyone pursuing this?
