Hi, I have done a lot of searching around for free samplers and downloaded the trial versions which all seem to be difficult to fathom e.g Machfive and simple sound sampler (which should be called 'don't bother sound sampler' as you would need to be a genius to get it to work. I have a mac computer and I just want to cut segments from mp3 / wav files and save each segment as a separate sound so that I can input them into final cut pro. What I have had difficulty with is how to set the markers so that you just select (easily) the beginning of the clip and select the end and there you go that is the sound snippet you want! Does anyone have any ideas? I am downloading logic pro 8 by apple as that may be simpler. Hope you can help. x hock: What I really want is something where there is a simple to understand manual or tutorial.
The problem is you don't actually seem to be looking for a "sampler". I think you want is an audio editing software. Audacity is very good, and is very free.
Ah ha! I see I will have a go with audacity then. In the future I would like to tinker around with the sounds and add effects does anyone know of any good programmes for this? Hey, many thanks anyway for your suggestion.
Thanks for the manual and advice. Greatly appreciated. I don't know much about sound programs but if you ever need to know anything about cat health secrets or how to put up shelving the easy way just ask!
