Hello Everyone,

We're looking for new sound moderators for freesound. All sounds on freesound pass through a moderation page and this page can be used by more than one person so the more moderators, the quicker the moderation. We are looking for people with the following profile:

• good experience with freesound and it's users
  
• you submitted at least 10 files to freesound
  
• a good understanding of what a bad sound description is, and what a good sound description.
  
• a relatively thorough knowledge of copyright in general, in particular samples and creative commons
  
• good talking-to-people skills, iron nerves and an eternal supply of patience
  
• ability to spend at least a bit of time each day/week moderating samples and talking to people about freesound
  

To apply, send an email to freesound AT iua.upf.edu (that's me) and write an example or opinion about each of the points above so I know you understood what I'm talking about. Feel free to reply below, but I will only consider applications through email.

Practically speaking (and for a view behind the scenes) moderation works like this: for each file that enters freesound, moderators have to choose one of a few options. Right now the options are:

ok - file gets passed to the site
ok, bad description - file gets passed to the site, but a flag is set and the author is notified
not ok - file is illegal, not compatible, a song, ...
really bad description - the person has to come back and change the description
delete - the file gets deleted
defer - file moderation is deferred to another time while you contact the author for clarification
whitelist - the file is passed and the uploader is whitelisted: all his future files will enter freesound without passing moderation

Yes, every single file in freesound has passed moderation.
