Currently when one downloads a sound file the geotag information doesn't come with it, so there's no obvious way to later work with the location associated with the file locally.
I've been trying to come up with a simple format that could be used to encode geotag information in a way that could be crammed into the metadata of just about any kind of media - at least, that's the goal.
I've got a page set up for my attempt at my own blog, which I would link to but I can't since this is my first post here (understandable, given how much spam my own blog filters out...)
Since the freesound project is exactly the sort of place I would hope it would be useful, I thought it'd be appropriate to mention it here and ask for comments.
(Especially considering I FOUND the freesound project when I initially went Googling(tm) to see if anybody had already tried to address this issue...)
Comments and suggestions welcome both here and at my blog...which I'll post a link to if there's any interest.
