If you let people remove samples in a carefully staged process like uploading I can't see how this could be accidentally. But I accept it has low priority. I keep my hopes tho.

I don't think this feature would improve the freesound's user experience in a substantial way.

I think that the cases of users wanting to delete their material had been and are going to be marginal. Like in not enough as to implement such a thing as a feature, thus programming time etc...

Right now the way to do it is asking an admin to do it, wich is not such a difficult path, right ?

So is not like you can't do it.

In some way the feature is there... in us.... fellow and nice admins... at your service.

You have to offer us sacrifices of... er.. wine and women, tho, if u want us to delete something. If you are a woman, you can offer yourself, and i put the wine... (i may come back later and delete this part of the post, so enjoy politically incorrect humor while it lasts)

Plaga: under these conditions (women, whine etc. etc.)... could I sign up as a moderator too?

I'm a newbie and hobbyist, joined Freesound 3 weeks ago,
like to contribute even if not a pro, so I uploaded 2 samples of digital noise.
then, looking at number of download and after exploring this huge sample library
I assume that those samples are not interesting for the community.
in this case deleting those files could be useful to free space.

out of topic - for the same reason (newbie and hobbyist) I do not rate samples: how can I rate a sample if I know almost nothing about recording?
on the other hand, I will always comment when I download - but not when I just hear a sample.
(why there are so many samples with hundreds of download and no one comment?)

just read the last few posts so i'm not totally into this conversation. but it sounds like people want to be allowed to delete their own files? why not allow this? is it that hard to set up bram? i mean aren't you the web guy genius who developed wonderful page? come on i know your skills can easily set this up so its possible. i say this because i think its ACTUALLY HARDER to send an email to one of you guys to get you to delete something we don't want up anymore. then i'd have to wait a day or so etc etc etc...and lets face it most of us want things NOW. in my honest opinion having people rate sounds is IRRELEVANT and allowing them TO DELETE sounds is RELEVANT. or even adding comments-lets face it the most a sample has for comments is like 2 (i dont think i've ever seen more than 3 comments on any given sample-there's a few out there with more than 3 comments yes..but not many) so why not get rid of those two-ratings and comments-and set up the delete function? again i know you can do it cus you got skills. allow us to have a bit more control over what we put up and if we can take it down.

i know many people won't like that idea because we like to see the rating of our samples-but enough with the ego's. lets be practical here. I really don't think people go by the ratings as a reason to download a sample-for many-they either want the sample or not-a 4,5 or 10 rating doesn't matter.

At first I thought allowing contributors to withdraw samples might be a bad idea, mostly because of dead links. But voluntary contributions may be irrevocable donations in disguise without this option. So... yes, it looks reasonable to me now. Anyway, easy come easy go! (and not that I want to remove any samples)

i never thought about it like that dob. dead links would be a pain (for the guys maintaining the site). either way its a hard choice because dead links would mean either we'd have to email you and tell you or you'd have to take time to go through all the stuff to see what's working and not.

It happens tha connection fall, maybe this is the reason now I have 2 files with same name (Sounding_play.mp3) but the firs(uploaded at on June 28 at 0:00 is just few sampling. Please if there is no other way, tha admin erase for me this file. Thank you
