I've added an integrated Freesound browser into the Ardour (www.ardour.org) digital audio workstation. This allows you to search for and import files directly into a session from the ardour file import dialog. Downloaded files are "tagged" with Ardour metadata so you can search for and use them in future projects, as well.
Currently this feature is only available for those who build Ardour from source code, but I expect it to be available in future releases.

P.S. my thanks to Jorn Lemon who wrote the Mootcher API. His work made it simple for me to integrate Freesound into Ardour!
hey ben,
great!
did you take nice care of the attribution information?
it would be really nice if -after you save/export/...- you get presented with a nice TXT which has all the attribution information for your track.

PS: the API will completely change in the future, but will become easier and documented, so....
"We are NEVER going to support Rewire. There are two simple reasons:
(a) Propellerheads will not allow us to implement Rewire in an open source application.
(b) JACK allows almost everything that Rewire does."
Hi Bram,
Your idea for attribution is excellent, and fits into my plan for this project.
Our first refinement will probably be better search parameters (right now I've only implemented searching for tags). But your suggestion will come shortly after.

Hi BenLoftis and all,
I've been using Ardour2 and the freesound plugin a lot in the past. I have just upgraded my machine to ubuntu 11.10 and the version of ardour is 2.8.11
Whenever I try and use the freesound plugin, it seems to disconnect instantly. I checked my username/psw and it's not that, but when I run Ardour in terminal, I get the following lines when trying the plugin:
Login failed: Check username and password.
Login was cool, connection = 0
So a bit of a contradiction... The whole terminal output is below. Am I missing something?
Thanks for your help in advance!
John

Gonna give this a try at our theatre. Now working on Pro Tools LE 8 with a digi003. a lot of AU plugins already installed. Would it work with the digi003? Probably yes...
Upgrading PT in the future is simply to expensive.
