Yesterday I was thinking to myself "It would be interesting to see who uses Freesound the most."
Age groups, ethnic backgrounds, and professions. The information might not be that important to us Freesounders but perhaps it would increase the popularity of the site to have some advertising, and a demographic is invaluable to anyone in advertising.
Just a thought really.
What do you guys think?
I'd be interested in this, but not so much for the "who" uses freesound, but the "why".
Theres the people who use Freesound as a resource, such as those involved in video production who need your basic foley sounds, radio and podcast people who need some filler ambiance and assorted fx, and the musicians who are always on the prowl for inspiring samples to incorporate in songs. Theres the regular people who just have a few things they want, like cute Windows sounds and ringtones. Then theres the people who have no real purpose, the explorers who just have sound in their soul, like the field-recording nuts who get off on 40 minute recordings of a melting glaciers.
