How long does if typically take a new upload to be moderated?

I think it's taking longer than usual in recent days. I presume a software problem or something like that. As long as you see the files you uploaded marked as awaiting moderation at the bottom of your homepage, then you should be good.

What he means is that they dont get paid for doing it, therefore its not their official job. Their agenda might be working elsewhere to earn cash, or revelling in other recreational activities etc.

The moderation really takes a long time now. I uploaded some 30 sound on 23rd of September and none of them have been moderated yet. Could the moderation automated with crowdsourced ratings like on Slashdot for example?

Either that, or just implement more moderators.

Hi everyone

It is no secret that the moderators are a bunch of volunteers. We all have demanding jobs and most of us have families. I am sometimes away for work and the same is true for some of the other guys.
If we are unliky a few of us are unable to moderate for a while at the same time and the queue builds up quite a lot.

We are somewhat victims of our wons sucess as recently there seems to be a lot more sounds being uploaded

Recently I had to rebuild my computer. While that was happening I did not moderate at all. The queue was already big before that!
I come back and shortly after that Freesound was down for a few hours. Comes back up and some sounds that had been on the database for a while where missing or showing as 'processing failed'. While the tech guys were working very hard to sort that out, the mods were not adding more sounds into the database until we knew what was going on.

As you can imagine we have quite a backlog!

The good news is that we have had a new mod added to the team and another one is being considered.

I will do some moderating tonight, so hopefully some people will see their sounds come through.

But I think we're here again, because the queue isn't over a hundred anymore

For my part as a mod: I moved homes and was really busy last months.
Now I'm at the sound desk at boring conventions and do moderations during work )
But luckily my job is not boring always. So that is my personal agenda next to Freesound.
