Hi Freesounders,
Firstly I'd like to say what a great site this is, this place has helped me out many times for my video projects, and I have now began to contribute my own sounds to give something back to this great community, thankyou.

My only comment is on Moderation time that it takes to get a sound up on the site, some of my audio has been moderated within 24 hours, but others seem to be taking days, Is there a particular reason for the delay which can sometimes be experienced?

I think the only reason is that the staff are volunteers and ‘real life’ can take over. Some of my sounds have taken a while to be moderated too. It’s just that if more than a few staff have stuff going on at the same time which impacts their time to work on here, these delays will happen. That’s life I suppose.

When I once waited about two weeks (so I recall) I gently ‘poked’ the moderator by adding a polite message to the ticket asking if there was a problem. It turned out that they had just forgotten and it was soon modded. Obviously, I’d only recommend this if it is taking a really, really, really long time as it would drive the staff mad if overdone.

That's fair enough, I understand that, but perhaps the team that do the task of moderating sounds were expanded to other freesound members it would take this burden away, and make freesound quicker to respond

Yeah. It all depends on who your moderator is. Not sure why there aren't more "team members" to help this process along more quickly, but even if there were more people it would still be a waiting game none the less. As you know they still have to make sure that the uploads meet the Freesound guidelines, which does require some time to listen to in its entirety.
It can get a little tiresome waiting for the approval though.
I think the longest I've waited for a moderators approval so far is about a week. Wasn't so bad.

I guess I'm just impatient, maybe my moderator is on holiday this week
