Over the passed 48 hours I've been seeing a lot of this going on. I'm sure there is lots of other people's sounds that are waiting to be uploaded. May this be dealt with soon.
I can forgive them for the time taken for checking mine, as some of the files I've uploaded are quite large. The easy ones passed moderation first.
We have a combination of high uploads and few mods available. - mods are volunteers, experienced users who don't get paid and contribute their *free* time to moderate sounds.
Meaning that when freesounders have no free time, they don't moderate...
We also have some users who are whitelisted. This is done for users with a considerable amount of sounds and/or which we know will not upload copyrighted material and describe and tag their sounds properly.
Sounds from those users don't go through moderation anymore and will continue to appear on the database even when there is a moderation queue...
This is not elitism or favouritism, by the way.
Moderation exists for 2 reasons:
1) reject copyrighted material and other unsuitable material (e.g. Music)
2) check sounds have adequate descriptions and tags
Users that can do the above do not need to go through the moderation process. That frees up mod time to concentrate on the sounds we actually need to check.
