The spammers are being extra thankful this season. They are posting only in the offtopic subforum. We've got quite a few posts.
what i don't get is why they even bother, what do they even get out of it not to mention if they were smart they would know nobody would ever actually take it seriously and ring those numbers seeing how it looks like they want you to call some sort of number lol
if it didn't look so spammy to begin with then MAYBE someone might but even then the chances are still very very low

Because "they" are not smart, they are "bots".
I think the site admins should make it so that any non-english characters in the title of a thread post should be automatically deleted, or whatever language that is, because I see that most of the spam has those non-english characters, and since this is an english site it shouldn't be too much of a problem
At the bottom right of posts by new(ish)users is a green "report as spam" link. Clicking this changes it to "reported as spam", then shortly after that changes to "Marked as spam". I have used this on many spam posts, and usually the spammers account is deleted and all their posts disappear soon after. How soon probably depends on how quickly the Mods check. I've noticed many threads disappear within an hour or so of my sending a spam report, which I think is pretty good for a site run by volunteers.
All in all Freesound is pretty uncluttered by spam, and I personally have no problem with the way it currently works and would rather let admin put their efforts into developing other more exciting areas of the site.

Indeed, I do the same, but the spam posts were increasing quite rapidly. The last time this happened, they put in place a counter measure (something like a user had to wait a few hours before making the first post). Of course, back then the spam posts were really ridiculous in numbers.
Just report them all as spam I did to. When 3do the will be deleted automated. As far as I know.

Way too many links to report as spam (or to paste here). And some of the topic titles are different from others. We've got quite a few spam posts in this sub forum as well now.
Here are the usernames, though:
ramrahem218
mkbaba2
amardas226
aniita663
skjioplk
rkrkji
dipika563
llrohitks
18hillt...
Sorry, got carried away.
skjioplk keeps posting about black magic, love and marriage, all in 'uk London'
The post looks like this:
+91-9694510151 Black Magic Specialist in Canada Australia Bahrain Saudi Singapore France Hong Kong India Abu Dhabi Dubai Uk Americas Italy Kuwait Malaysia New Zealand Oman Qatar London New York Paris. Oman Bahrain Latvia Uk Jordan Austria Belgium Finland Germany Greece Italy Ireland Montenegro Netherlands Portugal Slovakia Slovenia Spain France Switzerland Usa Bulgaria Tunisia Turkey Brazil Lithuania Peru Malaysia Poland Romania Israel Ghana Qatar Saudia Arabia Denmark Croatia Norway Sweden Egypt Argentina Morocco Ukraina Mexico +91-9694510151 I am astrologer All problem solution
ok afleetingspeck
I don't really trust your judgement, because 18hiltc is a real person. His posts may be a bit robotic and weird but he's not a spammer in the true sense. I assume that was a joke
I see the rest though, i'll get Fred to remove the obvious stuff now.
I don't think every spam post needs to be reported. If a few are reported for each spammer username, all of the spammers posts and the spammers profile are deleted in one go. All it takes is a few vigilant freesounders to click the report links, and all of us to have a little patience and it's sorted. I personally have no problem recognising genuine posts from spam, and indeed, feel I am usefully contributing to the community by taking a minute to click a few spam reports.
Irritation is best overcome by karma. This works for legitimate but heavy self-promoting posters who I'm not interested in as well as for spammers.

I just thought I'd alert some mods to this. Perhaps that wasn't required, perhaps simply reporting was good enough?
Didn't know about the spammers' profiles getting deleted if only a few of their posts are reported as spam -- thanks for that!
That's what happens when you report spam verbally. I got Frederic to annihilate the users and their dirty spam, and he acted immediately.
Although the spam report is ok, it goes into a pool and has to be sorted; people may not be alerted in good time. If I raise a spam issue in the mod group, a site admin will usually act upon the request immediately.
The reason the spam got through the filter is because at the moment it doesn't account for phone numbers, it accounts for links at the moment; which in this case was a problem.
