Since AT&T;'s on-line text-to-speech utility is no longer accessible, can anyone recommend an alternative? I have found a couple, but the quality is not nearly comparable to the AT&T; site.
Thanks in advance,
Chris
Ok I'll have to allow someone else to help you then. Sorry
For anyone else reading this, of whom are using Mac OSX. If you go to your text to speech settings in mac preferences under "dictation and speech". From there you can click customise on system voice and then download a myriad of different high quality modern voices in all manner of accents.
Once you have done that you can then use terminal to process a text file into an audio file as follows.
Here's a nice guide:

https://www.acapela-box.com/ is one I have used before. I think it’s based on the same technology as the AT&T; website to which you refer. It’s a paid (though inexpensive) service and you own the copyright to stuff you create.
Thank you for the leads everyone. Acapela Box worked well with its different dialects. I also found http://www.text2speech.org/ which only had a couple voices but it was passable and free.
is a solid website for text-to-speech, many diff. kinds of voices; and you can change the rate of speech
