hey i am a freshman student.I would like to create an independent series for my student organization,it's gonna be a mini series just for school. We'll be going to post it on our facebook page and youtube channel, is it okay to use some music here in this website without asking the owner? and if not what should we do? i just need some information. Thanks
P.s: We will not use it comercially. We're not professionals, we're just students who just want to express our ideas
In short no, you don't have to ask for permission.
The only time you would need permission, is to use a sound that is licensed with CCBY-NC (non commercial) in a commercial project. Please refer to the license type of each sound you use, which can be seen to the right of each sound in the list in search (icon on the far right below "comments"), and also text when you enter the sound's details page. Please note, that as far as i'm aware, making money from Youtube Partnership Programme (monetary gain per ad view) may count as being commercial, so just be weary of this.
By the sounds of it, you will be fine to use any sounds from Freesound.org. However, if you decide to upload your projects to Youtube/Vimeo/Facebook etc and the sound is licensed with CC-BY (attribution), you must give credit to the author of the sound. You should attach an attribution list anyway, even if it's not going to leave the classroom, just for ethical practice. CC0 sounds do not require any sort of credit and may be used wherever and however.
Please go to this thread and have a read of the second post. It details all you need to know about Creative Commons and how you can use the licenses in an easily digestible manner.
Hope this helps
