hey, i love this site and i can't wait to start contributing files. I'm an amature with FTP and all that though so if someone could fill me in on how to upload my files using a macbook pro and 'cyberduck' i'd really appreciate it.
thx
jack
hey, i just read the upload tutorial and tried to upload via the "connect to server" function on osx, although it fails to connect each time giving me a message like "some of the files on freesound could not be read of written" or something along those lines.
any help?
I've never had luck with the OSX server way, so I use Cyberduck, which works great. I'm no expert but you might have trouble because of the "(" and ""in your user name. Have you tried the Java upload applet?
Works like a charm and no crashes or error files.
hey thanks for the replies, i just tried each method that both of you mentioned and still nothing has worked.
I might try creating another account without any "(" or "" in the user name as you mentioned and see if that works
it worked! Corsica_S hit it right on the nose about the "(" and "" in my name. i created a new account and tried the uploader on the site and it worked perfectly!
if a moderator you please make note of that for people signing up for new accounts, that you may encounter uploading difficulties with certain characters in your name it might be a big time saver for newcomers and problem solvers alike.
first file i uploaded is called "ate oh ate" it's a little TR-808 drum machine sample contribution i made which i think anyone would find fun.
glad that got sorted out, it's really easy to use. my new user name is "jack nesky" i'll be on here a fair bit, feel free to hit me up!
thx for ur help,
jack nesky
