Hi, I've just realised I've been a member for 10 years! but haven't contributed anything. I started with mini discs and have since purchased an Edirol R-09HR and have decided to sort through my sounds and finally add a couple to the site. (Tip. Label them as you go! Its a nightmare if you don't) I'm no professional so I'm sure the sounds are inferior to most but I'm nevertheless pleased with the few that are going through moderation at the moment. I tend to make do with cheap mic's and DIY parabolas, dead cats etc. but seem to get by in my own small way. I think the process of buying cheap and working your way up is far more educational than just splashing the cash to purchase the latest kit. It makes you try to work around problems with glue, string, and lots of experimentation. Plus of course we all find out that when trying to obtain the perfect outdoor field recording the world is far noisier than we ever imagined just when we press the record button! Our brains and ears are incredibly well developed to cut through the cacophony that is around us in day to day life.
My main interest is in natural history but I have been distracted by cars, and windmills as you will see when my sounds get through customs. I live in Gloucestershire in the UK and my target this year is to record Nightjars, Curlews, and ants but with 3 young children I'll be happy to tick one off the list.

Thanks for contributing. I'm in love with this sound of yours. I'm guessing you live in Holland...

I'm always a fan of piezo transducer recordings, just something so special about them. I guess it's because we're not used to hearing things directly through materials so it sounds more interesting to the ears.
