Thanks, that solved my problem. It just never occurred to me to click on the name and not the picture. I am a visual thinker. I am a whiz at Photoshop. Sounds are new to me.
Now I have another stupid (it's right in front of you, it almost bit you) question. When using the Jingle Palette interface how do you delete the NAME of a palette. I know how to create a name, i just can't figure out how to delete a name.
I feel so stupid when I have to ask questions like this... but I just can't find it!
Thanks!
I figured it out. I suspected that if you right click on a palette name it would give you a "delete" option. The solution is to click on a palette name and simply hit the "delete" button on the keyboard. Duh.
Let me say that you all have been very very kind in helping such a newbie. I just want you to know that I very much appreciate it. If any of you have any problems with Photoshop I might be able to help you!
Thanks again!
Oh, I have another silly question. Probably no real answer but why does the name of each palette only show about 12 letters when there is plenty of room for about 24 letters? A silly question I know. I guess radio stations were very used to contractions. Maybe. Who knows.

I have a GIMP ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

Looks like the palate-name is limited to 15 characters so it doesn't run over the date part of the display ...
There are more than a billion-billion possible permutations of 15 letters, that should be plenty.
Hi Timbre
I have never heard of GIMP before. It looked it up and it seems like Photoshop+. I'm so old. Yes, 15 symbols is enough. I was just curious why that was and no doubt you are right!
Thanks,
Grandpa Patrick
I hope it's going well for you, Gramps, and I want to say 'good on you' to Freesounder Timbre for being so helpful and patient.
Hi, The first show is this Sunday. I discovered that you can't open another program (like Jingle Palette) while Skyping. So I got the idea of using my wife's laptop to play the music. But the speakers are terrible. So then I had the idea of switching what each computer does. Using my good computer with the good speakers for sound and using my wife's computer just for the Skype connection. But the challenge is that my wife's computer isn't set up to use the nice camera on the tripod and send the image to my large TV screen I described before.
So I am having my technician (Geek Force) here in Scottsdale AZ. come over this morning and fix it. At $100 per hour it is a good thing that I don't have any other hobbies than trying to make some contact with my granddaughters.
Despite the constant pain from my fibromyalgia I feel blesses to finally get to see them. The oldest is 9 and the youngest is 4.
Thank you all so very much for your help.
Can any of you recommend some funny sound effects that you like that are guaranteed to make children laugh other than the obvious fart?
Thanks again all. I will let you know how it turn out.

You've set the bar very high : simultaneously camera-man, sound-man, puppeteer, IT-guy,
and the performance is live, (rather than recorded).
If the show is scripted, rather than improvised, my suggestion would be to video-record it, rather than attempt a live-broadcast.
Then you can edit-out any mistakes & add-on sound-effects using video-editing software ...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_editing_software
Apparently it is possible to play a pre-recorded video over Skype,
( I've never done that myself though ).
and/or you can put video on YouTube (free) and share it privately if you don't want to show it to the world. [ The default setting on YouTube uploads is "public" : which everyone can see ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VHQr6dji4c ]
Thanks everyone for following along with the challenge I have set before myself and helping me so much with the solutions. It turns out that the Skype on Dec. 16 did not happen because my son-in-law was having problems with Skype. The next Skype is set for Dec. 30th.
What I have decided to do is to use my wife's other computer to Skype and my computer with the good speakers for the music and sound effects as well as to hold the script that I wrote using Word.
To see what my children would be seeing, I video messaged myself, but instead of pushing the button at the bottom I just watch myself.
Guess What? I have a new problem. A video message is does not have a frame of the same proportions as an actual Skype call. When I went to Skype my son-in-law the image was much, much wider showing things that I did not want shown.
I have basically set up a cheap television studio in my living room and I want Grandpa Patrick's Magic Puppet Show to be the best quality I can make it. I want the camera angle to show everything I want then to see very clearly and everything I don't want them to see at all. Like in a regular television studio.
Therefore it would be of great help to me if one of you would Skype me as soon as you can so that I can see what you see of me!
If you leave me a message I will give you my email address.
Can one of you please Skype me. I am here every day and awake from about 10 am -10 pm Mountain Standard Time USA.
Question- is there a camera that can be plugged into a computer that can be used for Skype which will allow you to change the camera angle- width of the shot (like zooming in and out), (NOT moving the camera angle up, down, left or right.)
Another challenge. Can someone please send me an mp3 of "The Dingle Dangle Scarecrow" by The Birthday Bunch if doing so is legal so that I can put it on my Jingle Palette.
Thanks so much,
Grandpa Patrick
Hi Patrick,
I have no knowledge that can help with your technical questions, but I have a suggestion about your privacy and security - Spam, identity theft and a whole load of things that bad people can do with your information.
Can I suggest you edit your message to delete "My email address is patric..... and Skype name....." part and instead replace it with "if you can help me please send me a private message...." (This is a Freesound feature which keeps everything private.)
Computer bots controlled by fraudsters and con men search the internet for email addresses and various usernames all the time and these often end up on lists which are sold to criminals.
You can check if your email address has already been trawled here https://haveibeenpwned.com/ but even if your name isn't on the list it doesn't mean your safe.
Good luck in your endeavors,
Wibby.
At this point I would be really happy of some freak, weirdo or fraudster would Skype me because I really need to check what the camera sees when looking at me. You would think that maybe there was somehow you could just make Skype act like a mirror so that you can see if your makeup is on right or something. I know you are being very serious an I am being ridiculously funny but WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE SKYPE ME!
Okay, I'm getting personal now...
Timbre, would you please Skype me?
Stomachache would you please Skype me?
Zatark, would you please Skype me?
Strangely_gnarled, would you please Skype me? Well, with a name like that...maybe not you.
Alright. I will send you a check of you Skype me. How much do you want for a 5 minute Skype?
Sincerely,
Grandpa Patrick

I don't have Skype : I'm considerate-enough not to inflict my visage on people unnecessarily.
Sorry Patrick, I'm a hermit. I don't have Skype either, nor facebook, nor twitter, nor myface myspace myplace mybook etc.
Perhaps I should change my name to strangely_unsocial to reflect my character rather than my appearance.
Still, good luck and kudos for your determination,
regards
Wibby
Hi Timbre, although the first link as with all Skype videos on YouTube are of old versions of Skype, the second link solved my problem. Now if someone would tell me how to post and jpg here I will show you the TV studio I have set up here! I don't know how to use the tags above.
Thanks for all your help! (You shy creatures you)
Grandpa Patrick

This forum does not have the facility to attach (upload) images to posts.
However you can post a link to an image hosted elsewhere, e.g. ...
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/f/fc/BeinGreen-1970.jpg
GrandpaPatrick wrote:

Using tags causes the image (hosted elsewhere) to appear here ...
If you quote this post you can see how I used img tag to make the image appear.
So, I can't show my picture unless it is "hosted" somewhere. Hmm... If I put the picture in Photobucket would that be considered "hosted"? I present interesting questions don't I?
Photobucket used to be free! Now I notice they are charging. Yuch!

Yes photobucket is an image-host,
some image-hosts are still free ... https://makeawebsitehub.com/free-photo-hosting/
I'm not sure an putting an image here is worth the effort: the people here are all about the sound, not the visuals.
Oops, another challenge.
I downloaded a sound effect from this site. As always I copy and paste the Mp3 file to the correct file where my other sound files are. I am trying to load it into Jingle Palette and when I click on "Assign Jingle to Button" and all the buttons turn pink, I choose one and the box and up comes the box and I double click on the name of the sound wave I want there, but the name does not appear in the button. What did I do wrong?
Thanks!
Grandpa Patrick
All my other music and sound effects can be attached to a button, but any sound effects from FREESOUND ONLY cannot be assigned. I tried turning my computer off and back on. Any other suggestions please? Is there something special about the sound effects here? The ones I am trying to attach to Jingle Palette have the Mp3 logo just like the others.
Help Please
Grandpa Patrick
