I notice when I try to like a button to a sound effect that when I do for about 5 seconds a box with an X appears in the black area at the bottom with all the information. Clearly Jingle Palette does not like your sound effects. Why??

All my other music and sound effects can be attached to a button, but any sound effects from FREESOUND ONLY cannot be assigned. Is there something special about the sound effects here?
The ones I am trying to attach to Jingle Palette have the Mp3 logo just like the others.
Jingle Palette should play any file ending ".wav" * or ".mp3" or ".ogg"
If the problem is specific to Freesound maybe you're not actually downloading audio files.
( * Jingle Palette even plays 32-bit WAV, which some software cannot play ).
Try another reputable website for downloads, e.g. BBC ... http://bbcsfx.acropolis.org.uk/
I must be going blind. I am signed in. I don't see any orange "Download" button below & right of the image of the sound-wave. I would post an image of what I see but I can't load an image here without paying for a site to put it on. The BBC site works just fine.
There are only three buttons down and to the right. None are orange.
1. Bookmark this sound
2. Similar Sounds
3. This sound is public domain
I'm using Google Chrome
Why can't I see an orange download button??
Oh, I just found it! You have to double click on the search image to get the page with the orange download button!
Thanks,
Grandpa Patrick
Funruckers! It still does not work. I will talk you through it.
I click on the orange download button.
The wav appears on the bottom left hand corner of Chrome.
I click on the ^ symbol and choose "Show in Folder"
The wav appears in a folder. I copy the wave onto my clipboard
I go to the file where my other audio files are that Jingle Palette goes to.
I paste the wav file in.
I go to Jingle Palette and click on "Assign Jingle to Button" and all the buttons turn pink
I pick the button where I want the sound wave to be.
Up pops the folder with my sound waves.
I double click on the wave I want in Jingle Palette (or click on it once and then choose "Open")
The wave file does NOT appear on the button.
Am I missing something again??
Again, the BBC files could be added fine using the same technique.
Thanks for your help...sorry I am so dumb.

I can't see anything wrong in your work-flow
If the WAV files from the BBC work, then so should WAV files from Freesound.
Jingle-Palette will only play audio-files which end ".WAV" or ".MP3" or ".OGG".
All the BBC files are ".WAV",
but some of the audio-files on Freesound end ".FLAC", ".AIFF", those are incompatible with Jingle-Palette.

... could it be different sample rates are not supported?
Like some 44.1kHz and others 48kHz won't work together?
I just tried 48kHz WAV & 44.1kHz MP3 in Jingle-Palette, no problems,
( not even when playing them at the same time).
Here is the name of the file I am trying to get onto my Jingle Palette
440117_processaurus_s-short-laughter(1).wav
if that helps.
I still get a red box with an X in it when I try to link it to a button.
I tried turning my computer on and off. I even tried downloading Jingle Palette again. No help.
Frustrated!

Of the >400,000 sounds on Freesound you had to pick one of the <200 quadraphonic ones,
( they have 4 channels instead of 2 stereo ].
Try this plain stereo version ... https://freesound.org/people/Timbre/sounds/455959/
Jingle-Palatte will play 16-bit & 32-bit WAV , but I've just discovered not 24-bit
So if the panel below the orange Freesound download button says "Bitdepth 24-bit" it won't work in Jingle-Palatte as is, however it can be converted into 16-bit, but you'll need software like Audacity to do that.
IT WORKED! Am I good or what! (The correct answer is "What") 1 out of 400,000 sound files! What are the chances? I guess one out of 400,000. Duh. Thank you so very much for solving that problem for me! Yes, if there is one wrong sound effect to pick, trust me to pick it!
Thanks again Timbre and everyone else for the help, no doubt I will come up with other problems for you all to solve!
Very Sincerely,
Grandpa Patrick
Hi Tember,
I was just joking, but I suspect that you are just joking too.
Thanks again,
Grandpa Patrick
Hi
Is it possible to get a song from my Alexa accessing Amazon Prime Music into an Mp3 file that I can load onto Jingle Palette? The song I would like is "I am a Paleontologist" from Here Comes Science by They Might Be Giants.
Thanks
Grandpa Patrick
I don't have Amazon Prime Music,
I just use plain Amazon ... https://www.amazon.com/I-Am-a-Paleontologist/dp/B004N8SMH8
Buying a copy does not entitle you to post it on YouTube.
There's Children's music for free which you can legitimately use on Youtube,
see ... https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music [ e.g. artist "The Green Orbs" ]
Hi,
I'm not really going to post it on YouTube. I just want to use it for private use. I don't see the point right now of posting Grandpa Patrick's Magic Puppet Show for the public because it is the private interaction between myself and my grandchildren.
Would posting them on YouTube be a way of saving them for my posterity?
Thanks,
Grandpa Patrick
