What do you all think about uploading piano music?
Is it frowned upon, or something people like?
Perhaps it depends on how it's recorded. E.g. if I record a piece on a well-tuned piano with no background noises, it should be uploaded to a dedicated music site, but if I haul a piano outside and record the same piece while people are walking by and birds are singing, it would be okay?
Tell me what you think
How about if you did a search for "piano", sort by number of downloads (descending), and see what people have downloaded. That would tell you what sort of piano sounds people like.
I still have on my to-do list to make some more recordings from my 1910 player piano (copyright-expired songs from player piano rolls). I now have a much better idea of how to make the recording, so the sound of the player roll is not so noticeable. http://www.freesound.org/packsViewSingle.php?id=2781
Figowitz, my take on this would be it would be fine to upload recordings designed to concentrate on the PIANO rather than the MUSIC - eg. provide us some samples of notes or chords as useable sounds, but not tunes or complete pieces for their compositional value.

I know i could just search for piano, but some of the fun is to record sounds people haven't heard/recorded before, don't you agree?
I see that several people have alerady uploaded recordings where the focus is on the music rather than the piano, even though acclivity says focus should be on the piano itself. The music recordings seem popular, though.
I have a slightly detuned old piano, and I think I might be able to play some pieces on it that could be useful for some people.
I'm guessing I could upload a piece or two if I really feel they need to be shared, but I shouldn't go overboard with it.
FigowitzAbsolutely! Go for it.
