I haven't heard any other site that has a massive, user-created contet. The othes I have found is sharing sound from their "own" library. For example, Adobe has huge catalogue of free sound effects and music loops for Adobe Audition users, but no one can really create content that Adobe shares over their site. One of the great features of Freesound is that we, the users, are also the content creators. And we're also contacting each other in the forum. Best of all, we have moderators and other people, who is creating the whole site, with us. I must say that I've been collecting sounds fro a very long time now, (couple of years), but have not uploaded them to Freesound very much, because I think that "there is hundreds of coffee machines already, why would I add another one?" Now I have finally got out of this and I'm sharing my recordings with this great site and I hope that someone can get some joy, ideas, more creativity etc. from sounds that I created.
Freesound is great. Not running it down. But you'll also find 63,000 free sounds at https://www.zapsplat.com.
Hope that helps a bit too
Hello!
Try this site - https://directory.audio
It's creative commons sounds and music library.
For sounds, the Wikimedia Commons has some public-domain music and sounds that you might find useful.
There's also ccmixter.org, but it's meant more for musicians/musically-oriented people. You can download cc music for your creative projects, or remix other peoples' uploads. It's a bit confusing/overwhelming though, so I personally haven't tried it out (yet), but it seems great for musically-oriented people looking to collaborate or connect with like-minded people across the globe.
There's also freemusicarchive.org, for polished pieces of music. It's reasonably easy to navigate, and the quality is pretty good.
OpenGameArt.org is for hosting assets usable in game creation. But it includes tons of music & audio that can be used freely for many more purposes. It also supports a wider variety of licenses, including Creative Commons licenses.
You can also check AlternativeTo.net to look for alternatives.
