I've been using freesound for a while and when ever I find something I always find myself coming back, most alternatives are scamy/shady and this site provides the best experience honestly.

I'm personally glad you're finding the site useful.

The reason why Freesound seems less shady and more friendly than those other sites, is that it's a non-profit organisation and closely tied to the Music Technology Group of UPF Barcelona which means that research is a key component in it's philosophy. It's also made possible by the community of sound contributors across the globe and not to mention all the kind donors.

Free sound is like a college that specializes in sound and you don't need to pay for it and everyone is willing to share and contribute their work/knowledge. In my opinion, I wish that was how the world worked. 🙃
