Hi:
I was super excited when I found
2166_suburban_grilla_bowl_struck.wav
The perfect chime for my meditation timer.
I downloaded the file, but can't get it to open or show up or play in itunes. Normally, it will just automatically play if you double click the file...
I'm on a Mac, OS10.5, Itunes is the latest one. Any ideas? I'd love to be able to use the sound file.
Thanks!
download VLC mediaplayer it can play all kinds of audio/videofiles and its free
VLC doesn't work either.
When I downloaded the file, I control-clicked (I'm on a mac) the Download graphic.
Saved link as... (it was a wav format.)
Downloaded.
On my desktop it looks good, has the "musical notes" icon saying it's a music file.
But won't play.
I tried another wav from this site -- that doesn't work either.
Any Mac folks on OS10.5 got any tip on how to make this work? Itunes works great with all my other files...
Thanks
What browser are you using? There have been several reports of Firefox being bugged so people coudn't download from freesound.
What's the filesize of the sound on your machine? It is supposed to be 1.77 MB, if it's 4 or 8 kB, something's gone wrong downloading.
If you ctrl-click the file and select "Open in..." > "More" > "Texteditor", does it show a bunch of random characters or does it look like it is readable?
If you ctrl-click and download the file from the following link, does that work? >download here<
Thanks so much! Yes, it seems to have been Firefox. I used Safari and got a file I can play in Itunes.
Now, if only I could figure out how to make it work as an alert in the Mac system. I converted it to an aiff. Added "f" to the extension so it read "aiff" instead of "aif", like the other alert sounds. Took out all spaces. But it still won't work.
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks!!!
Yes, that was the page I used for instructions. I used Itunes to convert to aiff, as mentioned on that page. I wonder if there is something corrupt with my sounds folder. Although, all the other (including custom) sounds seem to work...
Grr. Was so excited to have a meditation chime. Guess I need to go meditate to let go of my frustration...
Not very familiar with Mac.
I'm on a Windows based PC. When iTunes is disabled, I use this iTunes alternative:

WAV format can't be played by iTunes, and if you want to play WAV, the best way is to convert WAV to MP3 for iTunes.
